Will Chelsea boss be fuming as Arsenal’s Ozil allowed to star?

Tony Cascarino has claimed that Mesut Ozil was given more than enough to cause havoc yesterday, and the Arsenal man lead the charge against Chelsea.

The Gunners needed a last-minute equaliser to deny the Blues the win at the Emirates last night, and despite Ozil not being directly involved in the goals, Cascarino has claimed that Ozil was key in causing the Blues problems.

He believed that his previous experience leaves him feeling that Conte will have been livid that the German was permitted so much space and time to play his game.

Tony said: “When I moved up from the lower divisions to the top flight, I learnt quickly that good players should not be allowed time on the ball because they will destroy you.

“That certainly applies to Mesut Ozil, who was given more space by Chelsea last night than Antonio Conte, the away team’s manager, would have liked.

“The German has had his critics because he looks lazy as he strolls around the pitch, but he is very dangerous when he has time in possession.

“Tiemoue Bakayoko was in the position to mark him but was not really stopping him effectively.”

Ozil is currently under a cloud of uncertainty with his and his teammates Wilshere and Alexis Sanchez’s contracts currently up come the summer, but he certainly appears to be giving his all on the pitch in recent weeks.

It remains to be seen whether his upturn in commitment is due to the January transfer window or more simply that he is keen to prove his worth to Arsenal, but I believe his performance yesterday was amongst his best against the bigger sides in the division.

Should Chelsea have done better or was Ozil simply unplayable yesterday? Could we still persuade him to stay at the club?

Ozil was superb…. I hope he signs the contract

    1. Kenny Rolfe says:

As usual Sue, correct and to the point

    2. Maks says:

Yes! I have a feeling he would stay with us. In summer we will see what happens after WC.

  2. jon fox says:

TBH, I am not in the slightest bit interested about what Chelsea or Conte think, since I am a Gooner and only interested directly in our club. You want Chelsea? Well they can’t hang you for your folly (unfortunately) but keep away from our site. The only interest I ever have in Chelsea is hoping they lose. THEN I am very interested. PERHAPS IF I WERE A CROOKED RUSSIAN PETRO BILLIONAIRE I MIGHT BE INTERESTED, BUT NOT OTHERWISE!

    1. Sue says:

I hope they lose too, can’t stand them!

    2. Kenny Rolfe says:

The only interest I USED to have in Chelsea, were the bars in the Kings Rd

      1. jon fox says:

I actually lived just off Kings Rd as a young man, ages ago – Julius Caesar lived next door – and the place I rented cost a fortune, even way back then. These days they wouldn’t let the likes of me anywhere near the place. At least, not until I showed them the ocean going yacht wot I ‘AVE NOT GOT!

    3. pires says:

you’r seeing that we can agree.

      1. jon fox says:

Yes, we’re practically best buddies now. I have been far too hard on you and am sorry. I have strong opinions but only because I care so very much for our club and see it failing to reach it’s rightful place. It is not easy being a cantankerous old know all and I have to live with myself, all day, every day. Cue Violins! I actually do have a nice side but I keep it well hidden. foolishly perhaps!

  3. Tat says:

We gave eden and morata a lot more space lol.
In fact, we even completely forgot to defense a couple times and gifted morata 1 on 1 chances.

    1. Sue says:

      But he fluffed his chances!

  4. sfgunner says:

watched the match twice, ozils creation of space was superb, he has the best weighted ball on the planet, his passes are not only set up to get to the right player, but on the right foot, in stride and at the right pace. thats key, thats what makes him brilliant, he threads a high tempo pass perfectly between defenders onto the right boot. Its sublime. We must sign him. You can build a team around him.

    1. jon fox says:

Weighted balls, eh? Ooh, er missus!

  5. Gabie says:

I do not care about Conte i was happy to see Ozil played and help the team as always. I never judge ozil as i know that he world number 10 that a person who knows soccer cannot take it away from him. Is a joy to watch him when he is on the pitch even if he did not assist or score but watching him plays i just like what i see on him. I am confidence he will sign the contract.

Team must learn to defend special when we are winning and avoid flop tackle as we are unluck with these incompetence refreees like Mike Dean and Anthony Tailor who enjoys giving penalties where it is not deserved,

  6. Leeman says:

Ozil, absolute joy to watch when is on song. I just hope that we can get his contract sorted, so that he can concentrate in getting us to our absolute best.
Jack Wilshere also needs to get peace of mind with his future.
I don’t care about Chelsea or Conte to be honest.
