Will Kolasinac free transfer see HUGE Arsenal striker signing?

Arsene Wenger has suggested that Arsenal may still struggle to compete with the really big hitters like Man City and Man United in the transfer market this summer, suggesting that he may have to restrict himself to just two of three signings.

So with the rumour going around the football media that the Frenchman will have something like £150 million to spend on new players we were looking at an average spend of £50 million on each, which is certainly good news in terms of getting the right quality into our squad.

Many expect a striker and a defender to be among the new additions, but according to The Sun and other media sources we could be about to complete the signing of a very highly rated defender on a free transfer. The man in question is 23-year old Sead Kolasinac who has been impressing in the German Bundesliga for Schalke and has come to the end of his contract, hence the free transfer.

The Bosnian international is mainly used as a left back but also has the versatility to play in any defensive role as well as in midfield, so he sounds like a fantastic asset for Arsenal to have. On top of this the lack of a fee could mean that Wenger is able to raise his sights in the serach for a striker, maybe even someone like Aubameyang of Borussia Dortmund.

Would you prefer Arsenal to really splurge on a big name striker or for Wenger to sign another three players of good but not top quality along with Kolasinac?

  1. I think a big name striker is good but we need at least four quality players, a defenders, attacking midfielder, a striker and a winger at least

      1. Arsenal fans are getting excited about signing Kylian Mbappe after Arsene Wenger was spotted in Nice, one of the closest cities to Monaco.
Wenger was snapped alongside chief executive Ivan Gazidis amid transfer links to Mbappe as well as Nice midfielder Jean Michael Seri.

?? It’s more than likely going to be latter, who will cost around £30 million.

    1. The Sun clearly hates Arsenal if anyone has seen their recent headlines. Disgraceful newspaper, they knew exactly what they were doing.

      1. The sun and the daily cr*p are two of the lowest scum newspapers in this country. Never read anything from them.

  2. Big name striker of course. We can always add the other sort, and even the academy could bring through some good players but not quite great yet. There is only so many really top strikers around, Arsenal should be a club that has one. We have Alexis which is great but he likes to be involved in everything like a Messi. One that plays well without the ball, making dangerous runs, and making Ozils life easier would be nice. One who hates to waste chances like a Costa would be great.

Ps, it seems a waste that Mert wasn’t used in a three CB set up. I remember some fans saying Wenger should try it years back, esp as we didn’t have a proper CDM. Next season I’d have liked to see it tried again, not to be though with Mert entering a coaching role. I hope he’s not intending for Monreal to take his place, or will he see Holding as a straight swap. I’d like us to get a tall commanding CB as you could see the benefits with Mert Holding Xhaka in the same line-up.

  3. Top name strikers aren’t going to want to come to Arsenal. There is a shortage of these and at the moment there are bigger clubs than Arsene FC in the market for a striker so strikers can take their pick of big clubs.

Plus it’s very doubtful Arsene FC would pay over the odds let alone pay over the odds at the top end of the market. Sorry guys it’s another year of Giroud looking at the sky with his tongue out.

    1. Don’t forget Ramsey, he’s getting good at mimicking Giroud ?

  4. 2-3 signings… so Kolasinac, Onyekuru already satisfies that quota. Who knew that’s all we needed to win the title. Lower expectations folks, no top striker, and no Cazorla replacement coming this summer. Mbappe rumors are definitely manufactured. Only thing that will change our signings is if Ozil or Sanchez go.

  5. If Arsenal could get Aubameyang, I prefer him than any “good but not quality” player. In my opinion, Lewandowski and Suarez are the best strikers in the world currently (not inverted wingers like Messi and Neymar), and Aubameyang is just one level below them technically, but Aubameyang is taller and more physical.

Giroud is a good finisher, as seen during his time in France national football team and Arsenal (he saved us from loses with his headers countless of times). The problem is he relies on the supplies from his teammates, which can be barren when Arsenal doesn’t play well.

Arsenal should stop looking for a striker that depends on his teammates’ assists like Cristiano Ronaldo and Giroud. A true world class striker should be able to create goals from outside of the penalty box consistently and disrupt the opponent’s defenders to release his teammates from pressures.

Apart from a lethal finisher, Arsenal really needs a tempo dictator with high technical ability like Messi, Iniesta or Xavi (in their primes), especially Cazorla’s fitness is in doubt for the next season. Maybe Verratti or Jean Michael Seri can do this job, if only we can get one of them.

  6. Personally, I’d hate to spend 100mil on one player only to see him not work out. There’s no guarantee that Mbappe or PEA (who plays in AFCON, btw) are going to tear it up in EPL. So I’d rather approach it slightly safer, and get someone like Lacazette for less money, and then have enough left to get a quality replacement for Santi, and perhaps another winger.

  7. BOYCOTT THE SUN NEWSPAPER,BAN THEM FROM THE EMIRATES LIKE LIVERPOOL AND EVERTON.BAN BAN BAN AND BOYCOTT THE SC*M THAT IS THE NEWSPAPER!!!!!!!!

  8. as for me I believe both arsenal and the likes of both ozil and Sanchez needs more match winner to add to the team…. I like somebody like lewadosky, dybala, angel Maria and of course a good cm

  9. I don’t mind any of the following
    1. Greizmann
    2. Aubemeyang
    3. Lacazette
    4. Mbappe
    5. Lewandowski
    6. Lukaku
    7. Dybala

    1. haha arsenal fans we stop thinking during the transfer period…there are some players we will NEVER sign unless you are new to Arsenal fc
