Will Man Utd really pay Arsenal £30m for Ozil transfer?

Arsenal fans may not like the idea of selling any o9f our players to a direct Premier League rival. We were certainly happy that Arsene Wenger and the Arsenal board held firm in the summer and refused to complete the deal that would have seen our star striker Alexis Sanchez sign for Man City while in return we got a reported £60 million fee that sounded pretty generous considering the Chilean was going into the final year of his contract.

Would we be happy to turn down another big offer for Alexis in January, though, especially if there seems to be no chance of him helping us to win the title this season? Apparently the club, at least, is ready to offload one of the contract rebels to an EPL rival, although this time it is Mesut Ozil who is the player and Manchester United the club he might transfer to in the winter window, Metro reports.

The report has it that Arsenal have put a price tag of £30 million on Ozil, which tells me that Wenger and co have given up on persuading the German international star to sign a new deal and stay in north London. The idea is that United do not want to have to battle with other clubs around Europe for the playmaker when he is available for nothing next summer, so we are hoping to get them to beat the rush by getting him in January, but will they really splash £30m on a player who will soon be available for nothing?

Perhaps if Mourinho feels that Ozil would help his United side challenge the current league leaders Man City in the second half of this season, but what would you Arsenal fans make of this deal?

  1. Ive said it before, don’t try it!! Not with Mourinho. giving Mourinho Ozil will be like giving him the codes to a nuclear weapon launch. Ozil might be useless with us, but I doubt this man utd that has almost a balanced team will be the same.
Ozil will pick back his form if he’s to be paired with Mhiki and Pogba.
    Just my piece

  2. Why will Man U pay £30 mil for Ozil if they can get him for free 4months later?
Ozil is close enough to the end of his contract to go wherever he wants. Arsenal have no say anymore. If he agreed to go in January we may get £10-15 mil but no higher. Wenger and Gadidis really muffed up on these expiring contracts.

    1. People were singing Wenger praises for not selling Ozil and Sanchez in the summer, and now it turns out that he “muffed up on those contracts”. Ridiculous. He did what he had to do – kept the best players, and added Lacazette/Kolasinac in hopes to challenge for the title. It didn’t pan out that way though because both Manchester clubs spent a gazillion dollars on new players, so now everyone is up in their arms that we didn’t sell them.

      1. No, only you AKB’s were praising Wenger for keeping Ozil and Sanchez. I and many others said on this forum that keeping the players against their will would mean a sour dressing room and that is what we have seen. I was not being clever because it was obvious it would go wrong. Only you AKB’s were blind to the obvious. Now players are openly showing their disrespect for Wenger (Google Sanchez blanking him for example).
As for our transfer dealings Wenger made a nice profit for Kroenke so no doubt he will be on another bonus from Evil Stan.
Fans are up in arms mainly because of our incompetent manager who has got us only have 1 point out of 12 against the top 10 teams and guarantees us another poor showing for a club of our wealth.

  3. Ozil can go where ever he wants. I really don’t care. On his day he can produce something special, but he is beginning to have fewer and fewer days

  4. Ozil is the best player on our squad. Period. And don’t give me this crap about Sanchez because not only he stopped performing for Arsenal a while ago, but he couldn’t even help his Chile squad to qualify for WC. Ozil needs weapons though. Lacazette was a good addition, but we still need(ed) a decent replacement for Santi. That’s where Wenger f’ed up. If he bought a deep lying playmaker in the mold of Cazorla, or David Silva, we’d be up there with the best. But once again not addressing our midfield issues have backfired, and for some reason it’s Ozil, German player of the year 5 times in the last 6 years, who gets most of the blame.

    1. Ozil has only had one WC season for us, Sanchez has had two. He also cost less, and delivers in the big games, whilst Ozil is doing what exactly? As we saw YET AGAIN against City, Ozil went missing, and was completely bossed by Silva, and de Bruyne.

I am not saying Ozil is rubbish, far from it when you consider his assists/chances created since joining us, but no one ever mentions how many of those assists/chances created came in crunch games, semi-finals, finals, games against quality opposition. Yes Wenger hasn’t put enough quality around him, and maybe he hasn’t used Ozil correctly, but I still feel Ozil should be doing better. Sanchez has had to work with the same rubbish players, and manager, and yet he’s done very well.

  5. Why would Man Utd buy Ozil for 30 million? There are far better players out there. The only reason they might be pursuing him is that he will cost nothing next summer.
I will actually be happy if he does leave the club.

  6. i dont want see ozil in here anymore. most of our fans hate him.he does not deserve this. after ozil is gone fan fevourite wilshire will do everything that ozil couldnt. guess what wilshire will track back!!!and win us EPL title

  7. The fact is though that he was amazing before he joined us. Just like Ramsey plays well for Wales and Xhaka was amazing before he arrived here and Mustafi is a fraction of the player he used to be and even Sanchez is slipping into mediocrity.

If we want to be honest – Ozil is a player that Mourinho can use. He is terrible at Arsenal but at no point in his career has he ever been considered this bad. It would be dangerous to actually sell him into the EPL in Jan. Leave him to the end of the season he will probably get more money elsewhere so he can leave and not come back to embarrass this club in England as the player he actually is.

    1. I think Wengers formation and tactics make these players look bad. So for example Ozil is not a player who will track back so if he is to be played we need to play good defensive midfielders to cover him. A decent manager does this.

  8. Fans didn’t want Wenger to sell Ozil and Alexis during the last transfer window because we hoped that they could be persuaded to sign new contracts, through Arsenal signing quality new players and showing some real ambition and ability to challenge for the title.

We made some excellent signings in Lacazette and Kolasinac, but as usual stopped short of doing the whole job IE. Getting a world-class midfielder to replace the void left by not having Cazorla on the pitch.

Also Wenger continues to do bizarre things with team selection, as he did against Liverpool and Man City, and once again we’re not in the title race. If we were, then the situation with Ozil and Alexis would be much better, and we’d have other top players wanting to join as well.

  9. y keep them when we are not in the title race.sell them to title contenders city, united ,spurs so that the EPL will b interesting instead of leaving city to run with the titles
