Will Ozil be snookered into Arsenal stay?

Mesut Ozil is nearing the final 12 months of his contract, and is being linked with an exit from Arsenal this summer, but where could he go?

According to the latest reports, Mesut Ozil will be overlooked by the big clubs this summer, and may be forced to extend his contract with us, without holding a strong hand to negotiate terms.

Apparently Fenerbahce are the biggest European club to be eyeing his signature, but with the Turkish side unlikely to match his wage demands, he may have to look for a pay-day in the Middle-East or China, a destination he is not favourable of.

The German is claimed to have expected some sort of scramble for his signature, but has had a surprisingly low level of interest shown despite his contract situation.

We are supposedly in talks with Ozil over a new deal, claimed to be worth £250,000 per week, a whopping £110,000 more than he is currently receiving, but I find it hard to believe that we would be willing to give in to such demands.

We have also been speculated to have offered Alexis Sanchez a new £300,000 per week offer to extend his Arsenal deal, which would sound realistic if Ozil was offered the above, but Wenger laughed off such numbers for the Chilean earlier today, and I refuse to believe such numbers.

We look dangerously likely to miss out on Champions League football for next season, which may end all hopes of tying Alexis to a new contract, but the German looks like he may not have the luxury of pushing a move to a worthy side.

Will any decent sides come in for Ozil if the contract situation isn’t sorted out? Could we really be considering a £250,000 wage for Mesut?

  1. Ozil is not good enough…

Lets get Isco, Griezmann, Mppa, Bakayoko, Mendy, Varane and Dybala

Get a new manager, spend big and win

  2. Ozil is not worth 150k-a-week leave alone 250. If he wants to leave us so be it it will really open up a slot for a more deserving CAM who fits our style of play..Maybe Sanchez can slip back and play of the main striker?

    1. Put Ozil in a quality team and you will see magic! Not the lackluster, half motivated, spineless Arsenal manage by a headless and arrogant coach.

      1. @ Guneal…

Ozil is the definition of spineless, lacklustre, half motivated Arsenal…

        We have fighters like Coq,Mustafi,Sanchez…
Ozil doesn’t have the character and enough skills to be our attack leader leave it or take it!

  3. Even when he was in Madrid, there were issues with his attitude, yes he good number of assists but that’s about it..he shouldn’t be surrounded with big players before he can give 100% effort….

Having said that, I want him to go, as much as I want Wenger to go, Wenger will never bench him even though he plays badly, that alone makes me dislike him..

Am not surprised the Europe elites haven’t come in for him like Sanchez,it is obvious..Sanchez is the one that truly needs good players around him, to make us a formidable team.Ozil just wants others to work for him while he gives ONLY the final pass and on top of that earn 250k/week. I say sell him and offer Sanchez 280k

  4. C’mon now.. we all know what Ozil z capable of doing.. (i.e. Last season) He has magical vision.. Who den used free up Ozil.. n den it was all about the German’s extraordinary passes.. it was that simple.. n let me ask U.. did we buy Ozil 4 dro

  5. Ozil is the typical example of what Arsenal is facing now……spineless, lazy, and useless……can you guys rate him like modric, Silva, coutinho, Fabregas, Isco, Griezeman….ozil only knows how to give the final pass, nothing more….so useless, my Tomas Rosicky is far better than him

  6. Ozil has the best pedigree out of any Arsenal player. 2010 World Cup nominated for player of the tournament. 2014 World Cup winner with mos t goals for Germany in Qualifiers.
German player of the year 2011 2013 2013 2015 2016. UEFA Champions league top assists 2010-11. La luga top assists 2011-12. Champions league top assists 2012 UEFA team of the year 2012. 2013. Premier league top assists 2015-2016 and Arsenal player of the year. Has always played with the same languid style. Started this season well but went off the boil. Why?
