Would Arsenal fans complain if Mesut Ozil joined Tottenham?

Mesut Ozil’s contract at Arsenal is entering it’s final year this summer and with his form being very hit and miss this season, there are not many Arsenal fans that would be upset if he is sold. But would they be so happy if they found out he was going across London to our rivals Tottenham?

Well the Sp*rs legend Garth Crooks reckons that the German’s game is better suited to his old side, and would love him to go to White Hart Lane. Crooks declared: “A lot has been said about Mesut Ozil. Love him or hate him – and I love him – there is no denying he is a wonderful footballer.

“Is he in the right team? Probably not. A player with his talent would be more appreciated at a club like Tottenham.

“Now at this moment I may have Arsenal fans foaming at the mouth at the very thought of Ozil defecting to White Hart Lane but frankly it is a better fit.

“When Sol Campbell decided to move to Arsenal from Spurs it was because the player was desperate to win trophies.

“A perfectly acceptable position for a professional footballer to take and a fact that Spurs fans have never been able to come to terms with.

“However, Ozil’s style of football is perfect for Spurs and he has already won things with Arsenal.”

Leaving aside the fact of whether Tottenham could afford a player like him, or whether he would want to join them anyway, do you think he is better suited to their style of football?

  1. Yes, I would complain plenty.

Imagine how you would feel seeing Ozil setting-up goal-after-goal for Kane & Erikssen?

Imagine if he started getting on the score-sheet regularly himself, because he had a more combative mid-field supporting him at Spuds?

    I would feel sick.

    1. Lol…that’s just it, you can imagine him doing it but will he actually do it? He hasn’t been doing it here so why would he start there…

      1. read the original post “because he had a more combative mid-field supporting him at Spuds”

      2. He did ok at Real Madrid and for Germany, so with a better and more consistent team around him, it would be logical to assume that he would do better.

If Spuds continue their momentum under Pochettino (And there is no reason to doubt that, because he’s consistently improved them since he took over) it would seem reasonable to suggest that Ozil would do better at Tottenham as things stand.

And that would drive me mad!

  2. As a Spurs supporter I have to ask, why would we want Ozil ? What would he do for us that Eriksen isn’t already doing ? The only issues with the current team are a general lack of real pace and no back up for Kane. Ozil won’t address either issue.

  3. I would complain and I am a Spurs fan. One game a season is not enough from any player. Anywhere we already have better than him and cover in midfield!

        1. Yeah let them do that. AW and AFC been dominating Spuds for over 2 decades lol their best 2 seasons in their premier league history and they only finished above us once, haven’t won anything and bottled the title fight twice in a row lol not to mention winning the title at their home ?? I bet they can’t wait to see the back of AW

          1. This is just sad. Just because a rival makes a comment doesn’t mean what you said. He gave his opinion in a educated manner, learn from him to have a nice discussion…

  4. It’s like asking spurs fans how they will feel if Eriksen leaves them for Arsenal.

I know Eriksen is in better form than ozil this season. Last season, ozil was on fire with assist after assist. Yes his form dropped this season but you just never know what will happen next season. I still feel he is a world class player and He will flourish in Spurs shirt meaning with the right set up next season in Arsenal, he can be formidable. I still want him at Arsenal. That’s my take!

  5. We don’t sell anything to them besides manure and contents of our toilet bowl

Won’t lie don’t want ozil. He has the same attitude as.in Madrid, mysterious viruses after being on night out. Turns up 1 in 5 games if that.
    Doesn’t fight for team
Difference at madrid it was covered by great players we don’t have that here.

I know he will stay an sanchez will go,that’s how u know we’re on a decline

  6. Ozil has the best pedigree out of any Arsenal player. 2010 World Cup nominated for player of the tournament. 2014 World Cup winner with mos t goals for Germany in Qualifiers.
German player of the year 2011 2013 2013 2015 2016. UEFA Champions league top assists 2010-11. La luga top assists 2011-12. Champions league top assists 2012 UEFA team of the year 2012. 2013. Premier league top assists 2015-2016 and Arsenal player of the year. Has always played with the same languid style. Question is why can’t Arsenal fans see the real problem of this team-no Cazorla hence no ball control in midfield no ball or space to create?

  7. The fans that like Ozil and still consider him as a dangerous player (albeit resent him a little) will protest if he joins Tottenham.

The fans that blame Ozil for Arsenal’s performance (I think most Arsenal fans and me blame him) will have no problem if he joins any team.

I am sure he can find his good forms again in a team like Tottenham, Bayern and Atletico. He is not like Sanchez, Messi or Cazorla that can dictate the tempo of the game and possess the ball for a long time. But he is a very unselfish player and has good vision for chances in the field. When he plays for a team that plays with dominant possession and quicker tempo like Real Madrid, he can show his skills.

    1. I don’t blame Ozil for Arsenals performances but he is overrated, over payed, lazy, can’t defend, goes missing, is a coward, isn’t a leader and gets praised for making 1 or 2 good passes a game.

I got so many thumbs down for preferring Gylfi Sigurdsson over Ozil so lets first consider where each of their teams are on the ladder and the strikers they have in front of them and now look at their stats.
Assists Sigurdsson 13, and the so called assist king Ozil, 7.
Goals scored, Sigurdsson 9, Ozil 8.
      Tackles Sigurdsson 45, Ozil 25.
      Crosses Sigurdsson 291, Ozil 168.
Through balls Sigurdsson 6, Ozil 16.

It really isn’t hard to see who the better player is so for 42mil, Ozil is a flop.

      1. Sigurdsson is a good playmaker that we really need. Hopefully we can replace Ozil with him or other midfielder with similar quality but not overpriced like Andre Gomes.

        1. Sigurdsson assists are coming from crosses it seems, Arsenal need to thread balls through, otherwise we would all want Giroud playing every week. Through balls tells you Sigurdsson is not the right player for Arsenal, maybe a bench option to bring something different.

  8. We shouldnt even sell Sanogo to Spurs let alone Ozil

That said Spurs dont need our help
They have built a better team than us and fully deserve to finish ahead of us

    1. Well if they don’t need our help why have they always been trying to copy us. Even went as far as signing our old manager, they thought he could put a foundation there like he done for Arsene. Then they went about trying to find an Arsene. They hired our old scouts too so they could find out a few secrets, look now and they are signing tall fast physically strong young players, remind you of anything. Then the stadium too, after watching our blueprint, they get to cut corners.

  9. I dont think i agree with Garth or what his name, as Ozil cant play in such a high tempo/high pressing style..
In fact, my own opinion of Ozil’s game is that he is not really suited to English football and the only club he can probably play for is Arsenal and maybe City…

  10. All it means is he thinks Tott could cope better with having one player doddle about until he gets a chance to make a pass. I think Arsene is trying to sort out our defensive issues, he spent 70m on two players who are situated in defensive areas. I hear he wants another CB, he also got a left back with some muscle and height. If he gets the next CB right it will make a huge difference, and it could be Holding he ends up pairing him with, I’d like to see VVD alongside Holding but that’s wishful. Something needs to be tinkered with in CM, not including Cazorla, but even when we looked good it did not look Champions type of good. We also need to do something about motivating our players. I think that’s why Wrighty was saying he’d have loved a coaching role, he’d be brilliant to have in that dressing room, himself and Keown or Adams. Away at Tott I thought Tott looked ordinary, but our players looked like they believed the hype. Wanyama was said to have had a terrific game, I don’t remember our midfielders trying anything good for Wanyama to have looked great. We needed firing up, and confidence boosted, that’s why we lost that game.

  11. that’s one expensive bench player! He hasn’t been better than Dele Alli or Eriksen this season.
