Would Arsenal fans swap Alexis for Aguero?

There has been a massive amount of bets placed on Alexis Sanchez moving from Arsenal to Manchester City this summer ever since the Chilean gave a bearhug to Pep Guardiola after the Gunners 2-2 draw against Pep’s team.

I am sure that Arsenal would normally have no intention of selling our best player to one of our biggest rivals, but the fact is that City have consistently overpaid for our players in the past and I could easily see them coming in with the biggest bid for Sanchez.

But today’s big Arsenal transfer rumour is that City could persuade Wenger to let Alexis move north by offering Sergio Aguero in exchange, as the Argentinian is not very happy at the Etihad at the moment. While he is playing at the moment he was unceremoniously dropped by Guardiola as soon as Jesus Gabriel arrived with the manager criticizing Aguero’s performances against the big teams.

Also if Alexis was to go to City, then there is no way that there would be room for him, Aguero and Jesus in the side next season, so the perfect solution would be for a swap with Arsenal. This is likely to appease the fans despite losing Sanchez, and Aguero would certainly be first choice at the Emirates.

So what do you think? Would the arrival of Aguero lessen the pain of Sanchez leaving?

  1. Great deal

Do we have any Spanish speaking physios in the injury room?

    1. There were rumours that some Arsenal board members wanted Arsene to step down a year ago to enable us to get Pep but he refused.

      1. he makes the rules, he decides everything, that’s the power they gave him, so they should wait until Wenger can’t see 3 meters away, that’s when he can personally decide to quit..

  2. Jesus Christ just noticed we have conceded more goals than Southampton and Everton. Oh and WBA has conceded only 2 goals more. This season will be Wenger’s “legacy”.

  3. Swapping a different
    but similar quality player
    does not advance the cause
    of either side.
    Giroud + Wellbeck for Aguero.
    Chamberlain and Wilshere for Coutinho.
    Coutinho replaces Cazorla.
Bringing in Aguero and Coutinho shows ambition
which would encourage Sanchez + Ozil to stay.

    Cech
    Bellerin Mustafi Koz Nacho
    Coquelin Coutinho
    Walcott Ozil Sanchez
    Aguero.

  4. No, Aguero is just a goalgetter like Suarez, whereas Sanchez can score goals, has a great vision, better workrate and a better passer in my opinion. It would be better if Sanchez stays and we can get someone like Aguero or Lacazette to play in front of Sanchez.

    1. The above comment was to “gotanidea” who hasn’t got a clue. As a Man City fan who has total respect for Arsenal F C I feel sorry about what’s happening to Wenger, but having a manager who seems to frugal to spend OTHER people’s money has turned into a disaster. After watching football for over 50 years I have never, never ,never heard of any football club go on and on and on about paying for the stadium. Your Arsenal FC for gods sake!! A bloody institution. As for the fans who would rather swap wenger for pep lol .would you really want to swap one manager for another one who reckons he doesn’t need a defence.Best of Luck. Come on City.

  5. Aguero is world class

I would be fine with Aguero but we still need at least Alex Top forwards whether we keep Alexis or not
Chelsea have both Costa and Hazard

We also need to replace Viera. We havent had a Top holding midfielder for over a decade.

    1. I fail to see how Sanchez (29) would improve a City side which after a clear out this summer will be able to select attacking options from Sane (20), Silva(30), DeBruyne (27), Sterling (22), Gundoghan (26), Aguero (29), Jesus (19) and Iheanacho(20). They need to look to their defence not Sanchez.

      1. Easy, other than Aguero Alexis is better and more experienced at what all the others do best. If it’s on the wing, Alexis is best winger. If it’s no10, Alexis is better with his energy, desire, goals and assists. Aguero is a better finisher and that’s what strikers do best, but Alexis is learning fast. Gundagon should not be included. Iheanacho pfft Sterling pfft, you really can’t see how Alexis would be an improvement???

  6. The way Sanchez has been playing and acting on and off the pitch lately, I’d swap him for Aguero in a heartbeat. I think Alexis has mentally checked out already, and that’s not the way our main guy, and the professional player should behave. To me he’s gone, and at this point I don’t even care where he goes as long as we get a decent replacement for him.

    1. How do we replace sanchez lol

Neymar fancy losing to crystal palace?
His attitude is due to the bs wenger has promised him like he promised rvp cest nasri etc

Don’t blame him for checking out. Hes a God where he’s from here he watches giroud miss sitters an Gabriel do a bambi every week

Amazing u think any player of such calibre should waste there career for such bs

      1. Wenger made him what he is today – one of the best and most feared strikers in the world. He always played on the wings (even for Chile), and was always second fiddle to Di Natale (Udinese), and Messi (Barca). He’s THE guy at Arsenal right now, and getting paid handsomely for what he does. So the least he can do is show some gratitude and appreciation to the manager, and the fans as well who pay big money to see him play. And when I watch the games, I want to see a professional player, and not some primadonna, or a little sulking b&*yatch.

        1. Wenger made sanchez what he is
          Lol

          Just lol

          Literally no.point Vladimir I’m out

          Enjoy mother russia u numpty

          1. Alexis is a higher rated player now. All I think he meant was Wenger gave him the platform to go out and prove himself, in a position that people said he couldn’t play very well in, you can’t argue that. As for the professionalism, quite a few people were unimpressed by some of Alexis’s behavior, of course there will be others who turn a blind eye and defend him due to his effort and quality. Difference of opinion, I’m inclined to agree with Vlad, from Transylvania was my guess.

        2. Actually he also made Ramsey, ox, Walcott, Diaby, schez, sanago, need I continue? Be honest if you’re going to base players form on manager’s skill. He also made king Henry, but far far more busts than booms

        3. Who care where he goes.. We have had much bigger names leave our club and we have moved on… New manager or not the will be this player who think without them we are no Arsenal. Sanchez was a no big player before he signed for Arsenal . Arsenal own him nothing… I will gladly swap him with any level headed player who will play for Arsenal like xhaka..

  7. I really can’t be interested in which players we loose or get, unless Wenger leaves.
He can’t organise a team defensively, so it really doesn’t matter much, who plays.
We need a new manager, and then it is up to him to create a te, he believes in.

  8. Aguero would not want to come to Arsenal.

Besides didn’t Wenger come out a few days ago telling us he expects Sanchez to stay?

Why doubt Wenger knows what he is talking about?

  9. There might be a chance we can sign Aguero without the swap, a small chance because it looks like Pep doesn’t see him as his type of forward. I’d worry about the injury problems just like others have highlighted, esp as he’s getting older now it will get worse. He is still the best finisher in the league, I don’t even think it’s debatable. If we also signed one of the French prospects I’d be more than happy having two goalscorers of their calibre. I’d be sick seeing Alexis tormenting teams whilst wearing another shirt, but a consolation would be us finally having players who know how to finish. City won titles despite the games that Aguero missed, so I suppose the answer to your question would hinge on who else we sign along with him. We’d need new wingers too of course, with that, we might have to start entertaining the idea of a swap because that many players in the forward areas is gonna cost a helluva lot of money.

  10. Of course. But we need more than Aguero.

We need a new number 10 to replace Ozil
We need a complete box to box midfielder with stamina and pace
We need a new full back
We need a new right back to challenge Bellerin
We need a new goalkeeper to challenge or replace Cech
We need a new central defender to replace Mertesacker/Mustafi/Gabriel

  11. Under normal circumstances i wouldn’t but with the way this season is panning out i would swap Alexis plus $20 mil all day. Even less i love him but he is going anyway we may aswell get one off the best stickers in the world in return
