Would Arsenal really bring Niang to the Emirates?

So reports have claimed we are interested in signing the Torino striker M’Baye Niang in a deal worth around £17 million, £16.5 million more than he is actually worth.

Unai Emery has done some pretty good business this transfer window and has focused all his attention on sorting out the defensive side of the game, an area which Arsene Wenger was reluctant to address.

But with such a long season ahead, due to the fact we will be playing Europa League football, there has been some speculation that Emery would like to add another attacker to the front-line just in case Auba or Lacazette pick up some kind of injury.

With that said, the latest name to be linked with a move to the Emirates is quite shocking and embarrassing as we reportedly want to bring Niang to London. The powerful 24-year-old was on the books at AC Milan for five-years before deciding to make a permanent switch to Torino, after a number of loan spells away from the Italian club.

Niang most recently had Premier League experience after spending half a season on loan at Watford in 2016/17, before linking up with the Hornets’ then-boss Walter Mazzarri again at Torino.

But despite his clear lack of goals and his ability to go missing for 88 minutes of games, the Sky Sports website has claimed Emery was impressed with Niang’s performances at the World Cup for Russia and is now ready to sanction a late move to bring him to the Emirates.

He would be another cheap buy from the Spaniard and would not cost the club much in terms of wages, as around £50,000-per-week would be a nice little wage for his services. However, this is a guy that struggled to adapt to life in the Premier League at Watford and failed to make any sort of impact on the AC Milan side, who once hailed him as the club’s next big thing, so why would we even bother to show any kind of interest?

I guess it comes down to the fact he would add some power and physicality to the front line, you know like Olivier Giroud did before he left and signed for Chelsea, and would be useful for the Europa League and Cup games, maybe?

  1. The one i want is ousmane dembele loan deal.

    Leno

    lichsteiner………sokratis…………mustafi……..monreal

    torreira…….xhaka

    mkhitaryan……………ozil(c)………..dembele

    aubameyang

now this is a deadly team especially if we decide to play on the counter attack.

    darkhose to win the league.

    make it happen sven.
    #dembele.

    1. The attack is good with Aubameyang, Mkhitaryan and Lacazette, but I’m not convinced with the defense

      1. A thing i like (about this line-up) is it seems belerin is resigned to the bench – i’m not sure he warrants being automatic first team RB – he will need to improve.

    2. In the EPL, why would you choose Auba in CF role over Laca when Laca has the proven better record of scoring in CF (after his knee op)? 5 EPL games as CF and 5 goals for Laca after his knee op, Auba played 3 games as a CF in the same period and scored 2.
Auba has scored most of his goals from his timing of runs and intelligence of reading the game to be in the right place at the right time.

“If we decide to play on the counter”
      Really?
Emery wants us to act like the main chars in our own story, that isn’t sitting back and countering but grabbing the game by the scruff of the neck and controlling it.

Leno has already cost Arsenal a game behind closed doors yet Cech has started this preseason like he was 5 years younger and still at Chavski, saving penalties… Took him years to save one for us and now he can’t stop saving them with the new GK coach.
Forget that in favor of a signing? What proof to say Leno will do BETTER than HE has done previously to warrant a starting spot. Last season, the season that Cech done soooo bad… Still made more saves per goal conceded when compared to Leno.

  2. I don’t see any need for him. I sincerely hope this rumour is fake. If we need a 3rd striker, we already have Welbeck. We also have Nketiah knocking at the door of the 1st team. No need for this dude.
Unai and co should deal with the Ramsey situation quickly. If it’s a straight sell, we sell him and sign Nzonzi or Rabbiot. If it’s a swap + cash deal, let’s do that with Barça and bring in Dembele. Time is limited. The transfer window will soon close.

    1. No other club seems to have real interest in Ramsey, let alone Barcelona

As I said previously, it would be highly improbable that Arsenal would spend 100M+ for a young player

  3. Another funny rumor

If Niang really comes, maybe Lacazette would be sacrificed. Which will give tremendous financial profit for Arsenal, since Niang’s value is much lower than Lacazette

  4. No no no to Niang. Rather keep Welbeck or Perez to be honest.
Welbeck puts in full shift like only Sanchez could.
Struggles to score but at least works his tail off.
Perez at least has teeth and can hurt defenses that ignore him.

Niang just whole different kind of bad. Reminds me of ” If walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, it’s likely a duck.”

With Niang more like if can’t defend worth sh!t, can’t score worth sh!t, likely not worth sh!t.”

Only player other than Gervinho that makes Walcott seem good, sheesh.

  5. The Niang links are quite embarrassing. Why can’t we buy proven quality? If we were ambitious enough, there are several wingers out there that would improve our attack massively. Dembele, Bailley. Martial, Brandt, Vacwuez would all improve us…But knowing our board, who do they target? Niang…..It’s not fair Stan!!!

  6. Read the Niang rumours on various sites and none say we are in for him just should we go for him. Big difference.
And yes, Kolasinac out for 8-10 weeks with knee injury.

  7. I’m a bit concerned that we are not seriously linked with any winger and deadline day is just days away. The Dembele rumor is a pipe dream. I don’t understand why we have to bother ourselves with Wingers like Dembele who is currently out of our reach. There are very good wingers out there that we can get with less money who would surely put shifts in. I’m talking guys like David Neres, Garry Rodrigues, Hirving Lozano, Florian Thauvin and even Emre Mor. I’m sure Emery can work on his attitude. These are guys we can get with a snap of the finger as long as the price is right. I don’t know why we haven’t made any moves yet.

  8. Kolasinac’s injury should provide Niles the chance to impress. I actually think it’s high tme he’s given his chance. Monreal should be rotated with him for now.

    1. niles is not a left back…its better to play him at his natural position….

this has been what fans have been calling out for year…playing players at their natural position

  9. Forget Niang..we have signed Dembele.. How many times will i say this to you guys??…doubting Thomasses……you guys belittle your club slot.. Thinking we can’t act like a big club and sign big players… Once we are linked with a great big player then the fans will be like..”it would be a miracle if we can get him”….it’s a shame.. Do you really know the club you are supporting??…do you really know Arsenal?…do you really know how rich we are??… Do you know we are the only club that is owned by two rich billionaires?…..get that into your heads…and know that the reasons why we are not getting the players that we really want is because Kroenke prefers the self sufficient way.. He doesn’t want to take risk..not because we don’t have the money…but Usmanov wants to go a step better… There is a big battle at the top…we only have to pray that our two billionaires put heads together and combine their resources to help boost our club.. They need to work in harmony and drop their egos

  10. By the way it looks like Bayern Munich are looking for a midfielder since they are about to lose thiago and Vidal… I would willingly swap Ramsey for Coman and even add some little cash to it if they want….it would allow us the luxury of having two brilliant young wingers in our attack.. Coman and Dembele…….. I love thiago but i know Emery doesn’t want any midfielder again

  11. If we get both Dembele and Coman..imagine a formation like this…

    Cech

    Ballerin Mustafi Mavrapanos Monreal

    Torriera Xhaka

    Dembele Ozil Coman

    Aubameyang

What an attack…we will implement the high press so well with two lovely wingers… The return of Ribery and robben….that’s coman and dembele…wing wizards

    1. why not go one notch up and get

      Illoris

      Pavard Umtiti Varane Heranadez

      Pogba Zonzi

      Dembele Ozil Conman

      Aubameyang

  12. SARRI- “We have very good midfielders, but maybe a midfielder with different characteristics [would be a good fit].”

RAMSEY to Chelsea it is then .

  13. OT…
Why is it difficult for Arsenal to produce quality defenders from the youth set-up… I can’t really remember any lad that has made it to the top from tbe youth team as a defender…
The young defenders we have i.e Holding and Mavropanos were brought in… Niles is originally a midfielder…
The club seems to be focused on developing the young midfielders and attackers, and i feel its a problem…. Last defender dat stepped up to the 1st team was Bellerin, and the dude has depreciated in terms of development…
There’s something seriously wrong at arsenal in terms of defensive coaching…
Otherwise we would have had a natural left back easily slot in to back up Monreal after Kola’s injury…

    1. I do not think there is much wrong with the kids def coaching, it was Wenger that caused problems with prospects coming into the 1st team, not given the trust or not educated correctly… Or both.

Our kids can defend, try watching them and then say there is something wrong at Arsenal. There WAS and that man has been removed, it doesn’t magically go ping and all of the past decade removed…

  14. Utd, City, Chelsea, liverfool and spurs have all purchased their defenders with some at very young age

  15. Chiza, are you Resource or Remember Resource? How do u say with certainty that Dembele is in the bag but suggesting Coman?
A winger is seriously needed but Niang is just a fiasco!

    1. we need a LB and an experience tall cb…..

kolasanic is out for 10 weeks and Monreal cant hold out for long
