Would Arsenal really sell Danny Welbeck for just £15m?

So we all know that Arsenal need to sell some players, and with Danny Welbeck entering the last year of his contract (and with the arrivals of Alexandre Lacazette and the imperious Aubameyang) there are going to be very few EPL starts for the England international next season, so it makes sense to offload him,

But, according to Ray Parlour, Arsenal are only going to ask for £15m for Danny, and he thinks there will be many clubs willing to pay that amount. Parlour said: “I think people forget he’s only 27.

“[He’s been around forever,] that’s why people forget that he’s so young.

“He should be in his prime now, he needs to play on a regular basis and whether he’s going to get that opportunity, I don’t think he will at Arsenal with the players in front of him.

“But, again, he’ll sit down with the manager, and maybe do a Jack Wilshere, maybe he says: ‘Look, you’re further down the pecking order.’

“He’s got so many players in front of him that he might want to play first-team football.

“With the money bounding around now for players, like £50m-plus for not brilliant players, but average players, then £15m you’d think: ‘I’d take that chance.’

“I think he’s great for the dressing room. I think he’s a real lively guy, Danny.

“I’m sure that when he came to Arsenal… I was speaking to Vic Akers, the kit man, and he said: ‘He’s really lively and the energy’s much better in the dressing room now.’

“So he can bring that to the team as well. But I think that so many clubs would be in for Danny Welbeck.”

So Ray obviously thinks that would be the price for Welbeck, but surely Arsenal would simply be trying to start a bidding was, as I think he should be worth at least £30m in today’s market.

What do you think?

  1. Danny is a good player for a middle club in Epl like Everton, West ham, Leicester Not for a big club like Arsenal and etc Arsenal must sell Danny now.

  2. aubameyang and lacazette can’t play all matches across all competitions. We will need squad players over the course of the season and they don’t come any better than Danny. He does a decent job as a central striker and as a wide left forward. Danny is also counted as a homegrown player so I believe the club should keep him.

    1. Yes he sure did a DECENT job as a striker averaging 4 goals per season.
WE ALWAYS LOSE OUR DECENCY TRYING TO BE FLUENT

      1. we understand that you don’t like welbeck but the truth is that you have to be a little bit realistic. At every club we have the first eleven and players who fulfill a back up role. You can’t sign two elite players for the same position and expect one to sit on the bench and wait for the other to get injured or suspended. Back up players are players who are just a level below the starters….but are guys who can be trusted to do well when for the short time that they are called upon. Welbeck fits very well in this category…not good enough to start week in week out but good enough to give aubameyang/lacazette a breather. (am assuming auba and laca will be starting together)

        1. Trusted to do well when called upon…
          Have you not watched Welbroke?
Only thing he can be trusted to do is run around a lot with little end product.

Being a little realistic can also lead to the question of why are we wasting our time with a UTD product who isn’t good enough when we got kids who appear better and need the chance to prove it?

I’d much prefer to give the kids a chance than keep Welbroke.

    2. I feel lucas perez and even a false nine other than welbeck will do well in that position…dude should be looking a commanding a first team shirt for an epl side and sorry it can’t be in Emery’s team…wishing him well tho

  3. Arsenal always sells at cheap.sell Danny as we have Perez who is a better finisher and get a left winger or work with iwobi for improvement (he scores for Nigeria but poor finisher for AFC)

  4. Take the £15M right now and be thankful.Welbeck is not worth more than £10M. Can’t blame you though, I suppose Xhaka and Mustafi’s quality have dampened expectations on what a £30M player is supposed to be like.

  5. He is worth more £15 million
That’s too little. Hes an England international and experienced PL forward
He will get many offers for only £15 mil. That’s a bargain

I’m fine with selling him BUT
If we do sell him we must use that money towards a winger or get Max Meyer free.
But don’t sell him and get no one. Welbeck can compete against Iwobi and Perez for left wing instead of getting no winger at all. He also counts as homegrown as said above

  6. He is not going to be a regular starter and is a player that needs to play and not sit on the bench if we get 15 million for him think it will be a good deal for both parties!!

  7. It’s what we paid for him …. Perez better option … So if we sell him and Iwobi and bring in a quality attacking option we will be getting closer to contender status …. Still worried about midfield though

  8. Any club willing to spend that fortune on such a useless player must be really foolish. Just take the money already and relieve us of his presence. If nobody is willing to pay a dime, just give him away for free.

    1. This is over the top nonsense . Try some perspective when commenting. You may care to read my post (further down this thread) for true perspective.

      1. You may think Impenia is talking nonsense but that is only your opinion

You would only sell Welbroke if Perez stays and claim it is a true perspective…

Do you even know what the word perspective means?
Can two people have different points of view? If both are looking at the same thing from different angles then of course the perspective will be different but it doesn’t mean one is wrong while the other is right.

Time for you to get an education.

        1. I am thankful that I DID have an education and have been furthering that education all my life. As an educated man I will forgive your unwarranted rudeness., BORN OF IGNORANCE.

  9. Danny is a good player though he hasn’t live up to expectation since he signed from united but let’s consider he still got age by his side

  10. I think this years World Cup sums up where welbeck is at the moment, couldnt really push into a starting 11 or make any impression with the very limited chance he had, so has some quality but not enough to make an impact.

Worth havin in you squad to play across the front line in times of need, worth pocketing the 15 mill if we are looking to brink in a replacement, feel the same about iwobi in so much as they both have a limited ability to effect a game to any great extent with better option out there for us.

  11. I would sell him BUT only if Perez stays and is used as back up striker to Auba and Laca. Welbeck should fetch far more than £15 mill in todays market and should not be let go cheaply.

  12. I would expect something in the region of 25M for welbeck, after all he’s an england international, with premiership winners medal and carries with that both man-utd and arsenal pedigree. welbeck is easy to sell-on, imo, and i’d be the first to thank him for “trying at arsenal” but fans here are not easily pleased and as such we expect more from our strikers. I personally want to see characters that are lethal in front of goal and unfortunately DW doesn’t meet the criterion. everton are in the europa and his football style might be better placed there?

  13. Sell only on condition we will get a fast, explosive, quality goal scoring winger…

anything short of that, I say we keep him, he will be good as sub for laca and auba..

fans forget you can’t get another grade A elite player to play from bench and cup games..

and u don’t rate nketiah, nelson and those kids ready, they are too light and will be over bullied unlike welbeck.

welbeck under emery won’t be poor I reckon. nevertheless,he can be sold to raise fund for zaha or coman.

  14. Nobody understands Welbeck, the guy brings stability to the team when he plays, he is actually a better deffender than Bellerin, better Iwobi leaves instead. Even Giroud is a deffender, depends on Coach’s tactics
