Would James Milner pick Arsenal or Liverpool?

There has been an ongoing Arsenal transfer rumour linking us with a move for the Man City midfielder James Milner, whose contract at the Etihaad runs out in June, but according to the Express it seems that Liverpool’s boss Brendan Rodgers is also keen to make a move for the England international.

Obviously at 28, Milner will be looking to get a bumper last contract before he gets too old to make demands so the contract on offer will be an important factor in any negotiations. He is already on a lucrative deal at City but with the oil-rich club falling foul of Financial Fair Play regulations they may not be keen to offer him such a good wage this time around.

Liverpool have also been spending money like water this year so could be keen to take on an home-grown Englishman to reduce outgoings, but with Milner getting a bit long in he tooth, would he be willing to move to a club that is extremely unlikely to be in the Champions League next season, no matter how much the wages on offer.

So that must leave Arsenal as the favourites to tempt Milner to move to London in the summer, assuming the Gunners manage to win the Wenger trophy as usual. Arsene has been leaning towards signing more experienced players now that the financial restraints of the Stadium build are easing, and if he comes without a transfer fee all the better!

So let’s be honest, if you were Milner, who would you choose?

  1. The two teams right at the bottom, we couldn’t beat neither of them. They are both losing as well from 1 minute of todays matches.

    1. @ha559
it wasnt that we couldnt beat them- we let them off cos we felt sorry for them

were such a kind an considerate club

      1. There should be a trophy for the most considerate club too to go along with 4rth place, topping FFP league and taking part in CL!

  2. If u told a City fan in 2008 that Arsenal & Liverpool would be competing to sign a player dat can’t get in your starting 11 in 2014………..smh.

  3. Past his best, versatile but really that’s not what we urgently need. We need controlling/defensive midfielder. Along with a defender. Along with a winger/striker as it looks like Welbeck isn’t going to do “Sturridges” any time soon.

  4. What makes you People think that Wenger will sign a defensive midfielder? If anything he would get a box2box midfielder, if he gets a midfielder at all. He is an attacking minded manager.

My point is don’t get your hopes up or raise other people’s hopes without quotes from Wenger or previous evidence

    1. @fred cowardly,

I think by now all the Arsenal fans know better than getting our hopes up..

One can dream, right? Living in the fantasy world, that’s about all we can do nowadays.

  5. i like to think james milner is on stage an we’re the midgets at the back , jumping up an down shouting “pick me james”

  6. Is he a CB defender?
    Is he a DefensiveMidfielder?
    Is he a Striker?
    Is he WorldClass?

    WE DON’T NEED MILNER!!!

  7. Off to the Emirates, hoping three points. I’m not a big commenter on this site, but I’m a regular visitor. Thanks a lot admin for this site, and all you guys and girls that make it such an interesting place. At the end of the day we’re all gooners, and we all want the best for this club regardless of our opinions of how to achieve it. Gooners together are always better, than gooners apart!

  8. Milner is world class….like Carroll, Downing, Johnson, Henderson and etc..

    world class big name players

  9. So far this season out of the big teams, we have played, Everton away, City at home, United at home, Chelsea away, Spurs at home and Liverpool away, we’ve not won a f*cking single one of those games, such a p*ss poor return seeing as it costs so much for a ticket to one of those games, pathetic.

  10. When will AKB’s no longer support Wenger?
Is it when Spurs finish above us in 4th place, cause it might happen this year.

  11. Why would we need James Milner? We need two positions filled, a centre back and a defensive midfielder, and he isn’t brilliant at either of them. Every other position, except maybe left back given Monreal and Gibbs’ injury records, I think we have good depth in, so there’s no need for his versatility.

  12. The FA Cup wad an achievement for us being a mid table team.

Please don’t expect it every year. 1 trophy in 11 years is good enough for Arsenal, the players and evidently the AKB’S.

    Hohoho

    1. Look at it this way – we can’t get any weaker after January, we can only get stronger. Most other teams competing with us can’t say that, not to the same extent at least. We’ll have a new signing or two as well as many players coming back from injury. We’ll be an awful lot stronger than what we have been..

  13. I am really worried about West Ham on Sunday.. I don’t know why but I have got a very bad feeling about it..
