Arsenal fans vote Matteo Guendouzi as September player of the month
Matteo Guendouzi is the Arsenal September player of the month after the fans voted for the young midfielder following a string of excellent displays.
Guendouzi received 48% of the vote ahead of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in second and Calum Chambers in third.
The 20-year-old was at his very best driving Arsenal forward in the second half against Tottenham. The game finished 2-2 after Arsenal came back from 2-0 down. He was just as inspirational in the 3-2 comeback win over Aston Villa and throughout the month was a key player for Arsenal.
The France Under-21 international has broken through into the France senior squad and has grown into a very influential player.
Guendouzi cost Arsenal £7 Million plus bonuses back in July 2018 and according to Transfermarkt is now worth £40 Million. Winning awards like this will only see his value continue to grow.
Unai Emery was spot when he signed the then-teenager saying
“We are delighted Matteo is joining us. A talented young player and a lot of clubs were interested in him. He has big potential and gained good first-team experience last season with Lorient. He wants to learn and improve and will be an important part of our first-team squad.
Young Guendouzi is fast coming of age and there is no reason he will not be picking up more player of the month awards.
