Henrikh Mkhitaryan has insisted that he has nothing to prove after his failed Manchester United stint, adding that he is hoping to achieve more with Arsenal than he did with his former club.
The Armenian international made the move to North London as part of the Alexis Sanchez transfer, and has already impressed the Gunners faithful, picking up a hat-trick of assists on his full debut against Everton at the weekend.
He didn’t enjoy such a great time under Jose Mourinho, with him regularly being overlooked this term whilst with his former club, and is the Portuguese is believed to have strangled his creativity out by demanding more defensively.
All eyes will be on Mkhi and fellow new signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang come the weekend, when they will get their first taste of a North London derby, but the midfielder is insisting that he has nothing to prove to anybody despite his struggles with the Red Devils.
‘I don’t have anything to prove to anyone,’ Mkhitaryan said.
‘I just have to enjoy myself, do my best and at the end I will see where I can reach.
‘I don’t want to blame anyone but I am happy that this [half of the] season passed already. I am starting a new chapter in my life, in my football career and I am very happy to be here.
‘I will be pleased to achieve more than I have done in Manchester, of course.’
The 29 year-old could well enjoy the same success as he did last term by winning the Europa League in consecutive campaigns, and his six goals in the competition last season would have gone a long way to helping them achieve success last year.
