Aaron Ramsey – “It’s great to have the fans back with us”

The Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey is just in the process of completing one of the major goals of his life, which is to help his country reach a major tournament Finals. Yesterday evening they could have secured their place if they could have just nicked a goal against a very defensive Israel, but even with a strong longrange shot in the final stages Ramsey could not quite pull it off.

Wales still have two opportunities to gain that vital point. First they face Bosnia away, and then there final match is at home to the European minnows Andorra. Ramsey was extremely pleased with the support of the home crowd and is looking forward to big celebrations after the last game in Cardiff as they qualify for the first time in 57 years, but he is confident that they can secure the point before then.

Ramsey was quoted as saying: “We feel we can go to Bosnia and grab all three points, that’s the confidence in this team at the moment,”

“Hopefully we will be able to do that and have a successful end to what has been a great campaign.

“Sometimes it is a bit easier playing away from home because teams are trying to attack and score, which is a bit more of an open game.

“We saw against Israel it can be quite difficult when a team has 10 or 11 players behind the ball, but we are delighted to have the fans back with us.

“The noise and passion they have shown has been incredible and we hope they will come back for Andorra and there will be plenty to cheer about after that game.”

The Euros would not be complete if a brilliant player like Gareth Bale, backed up by Ramsey, was not on show on the top stage of European football and I would love to be in Wales to celebrate with them. That will be a monumental party!
