Alexis plays full 90 minutes on bad night for Arsenal players

All Arsenal fans will now breathe a collective sigh of relief as Alexis Sanchez has come through his final game of this break, although it was a bad-tempered game (as it always is when you play Uruguay) and the Gunners superstar had to play the full 90 minutes for the second time in four days and lost this one 3-0.

There is no word on him being tired or injured after the game, but he certainly is not happy with Uruguay, who Chile beat 1-0 last time they met in the Copa America, which was also a very feisty occasion. Sanchez said on Instagram after the game: “You need to know how to win and how to lose and I speak when I win and when I lose,” he wrote.

“But what annoys me about past and present and other Uruguayan players … is that they speak without acknowledging that they’ve lost.

“Today we lost and I congratulate them … it’s goodbye from the champions of the Americas.”

It wasn’t really a good international night for the Gunners as Petr Cech’s Czech Republic also lost to Poland, although our newest superstar did equal the record for the most-capped Czech player….

Kieran Gibbs played well as England beat our French players Laurent Koscielny and Olivier Giroud, but we are all just glad the game went ahead and finished without incident. Germany v Holland was not so lucky as the game was called off and the crowd evacuated after police discovered a truck bomb disguised as an ambulance outside the ground in Hanover.

I am wondering how much longer this reign of terror is going to go on, and whether fans will still consider it safe to even go to live matches any more. Big crowds are easy targets….
