Allegri is leaving Juventus, but will Arsenal jump?

News sources in Italy are claiming that Massimiliano Allegri has agreed to leave Juventus this summer, a year before his contract was to expire.

This news will excite Arsenal fans who have been calling for change, with many believing that now is the right time to part ways with Arsene Wenger.

The Frenchman has been at the club for over 20 years and led us through some amazing times, but having endured tough financial times while the new stadium was being built, they have failed to sustain a serious title challenge for a while now.

Gunners fans have become frustrated with the lack of progress in recent years, and now with Wenger’s contract up this summer, appear keen for him to leave.

It had been thought that Arsene would stay as long as he had wished, but it may be more to the point that he is unwilling to leave until a reasonable replacement is found, and he may well have given his seal of approval to Allegri.

Sir Alex Ferguson played a huge part in choosing his successor for Manchester United previously, and you would expect the Arsenal boss to also merit the same decision.

Allegri has led his current Juve side to win the Serie A and Coppa Italia double in each of his two seasons with the club, as well as reaching the Champions League final in his opening term.

The Italian could well be set to bring his ‘winning mentality’ to the Premier league, with Wenger having been accused of lacking just that in recent years.

Should Arsene leave this summer, the most interesting thing will be whether the new manager will be allowed to spend in order to rival the other big clubs in England, with Wenger having been blamed for a lack of spending in parts.

Would Allegri be a great replacement for Wenger? Has Arsene just been waiting for the right man to replace him?
