Another inopportune Arsenal injury comes at a bad time – Smith-Rowe out

Well there I was happily writing away at the Arsenal v Qarabag Preview when suddenly up pops the news that the young Gunner Emile Smith-Rowe was injured in training and is now set to miss tonight’s game and also the Caraboa Cup quarter final against Tottenham.

Goal reported it like this…..

Arsenal starlet Emile Smith Rowe will miss Thursday’s Europa League tie against Qarabag after suffering a minor groin strain in training.

The 18-year-old has been one of the stars of the Gunners’ European campaign this season, having scored his first two senior goals away to Qarabag and Vorskla Poltova, with Unai Emery’s side already assured of top spot in Group E.

But Goal understands Smith Rowe did not train with the Arsenal squad ahead of the Qarabag clash at the Emirates Stadium and is expected to be on the sidelines for another two weeks in order for him to fully recover.

This is a real blow, as Smith-Rowe has made a real breakthrough this season, and has scored a couple of goals in tonight’s competition, and is definitely catching Emery’s eye as one to be promoted to a full first-teamer in the near future. This couldn’t have come at a worst time for the youngster but hopefully it will spur him on to recover quickly and wait patiently for his next chance to impress the Boss.

Now I’m going to have to change my Predicted team in the Preview!
