There is a long running feud between Arsenal and Chelsea, and not just because we are London neighbours. Tottenham are the Gunners traditional figure of fun, but the Blues are more of a hate figure since Roman Abramovich took over and brought in that Portugese Bus Conductor to spend his money.
Arsene Wenger is desperate to beat Jose Mourinho, but when they play each other Chelsea aim to frustrate Arsenal rather than try and entertain the crowds, which goes against Arsene Wenger’s philosophy. So although we were chanting “Boring, Boring, Chelsea”, the fact is that Mourinho gets the job done and it is the Blues that will be crowned Champions next week.
Mourinho countered the “boring” label by saying that “Boring is waiting 11 years for a title” and now the young Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma believes that the Arsenal fans are simply jealous of the West London club’s success. He said: “They are jealous because their team is not top of the league, and they want to be top of the league like everyone wants to — that’s normal.
“We know that everybody wants to beat us so I think we play the same but more defensively — we have to concentrate and be focused.”
So here is the million dollar question. Would you rather that Arsenal were called boring and won the title, or be perrenial, but exciting, losers?
