RB Leipzig boss Ralph Hasenhuettl has seemingly confirmed reports linking him with the Arsenal job.
Arsene Wenger is into the final season of his current contract, and with his side currently in top form due to his creative management, you wouldn’t have been surprised to see a new deal offered.
The Frenchman does not appear to have been offered a new extension to his contract as of yet, and one of those linked as his potential successor has now seemingly revealed that talks have taken place for him to take on the role.
“It was a well-researched story,” Hasenhuttl said in his press-conference.
“There was a lot of truth to it. I have heard of worse fates than succeeding the longest-serving manager in England. It’s not damaging my reputation, is it?
“We don’t have to put too much thought into it. I have found my luck here.”
Leipzig manager Hasenhuettl currently has his side sitting pretty on top of the Bundesliga table, having gone unbeaten so far in the campaign, and may well be the first choice to take on from Wenger.
Eddie Howe is another candidate for the role, having impressed in his time as Bournemouth chief, but he has also played down reports that he is interesting in taking on the job.
The Gunners board have previously hinted that Wenger would be given the opportunity to stay as Arsenal manager until he decided he wanted to leave, but some sections of fans have made it clear that they want change to happen.
