Are the Euros Aaron Ramsey’s last chance to prove himself?

Aaron was considered to be a budding supertalent when Arsenal beat Man United to his signature all those years ago, but now he is considered to be yet another Arsenal prodigy that has failed to live up to expectations.

He excelled in one season for the Gunners and despite his recent mediocre form, Arsene Wenger has kept faith with the Welsh international in the campaign just ended. Now, with the arrival of Granit Xhaka, it appears that Ramsey will have even more competition for a first team place, especially in his favoured central midfield position.

But Aaron is now aiming to regain some of his lost reputation by proving his abilities again by playing well against the Big Boys of international football. Ramsey said: “We can’t wait to get started now.

“Now that we are here we don’t just want to be rolled over. Every game we play we want to make a statement.

“We’re more than capable of doing that. We’ve worked our socks off to get here and we want to prove we’re more than capable of matching the bigger nations.”

“For me personally I’ve played in some big games but everybody’s eyes will be on this tournament.

“I want to show that I’m more than capable of standing up and proving that I can play at this level. It was of the biggest targets in my career to help Wales to a major championship.

“I’ve finally achieved that and it’s a big achievement not only for me personally but also for the team and for our country.”

This could be his last big chance to prove, either to Wenger or any prospective buyers, that he still retains the ability he showed in his younger days. Now 25, is Ramsey running out of time?
