Arsenal already blown out of Mbappe transfer race by Man Utd?

If this latest little bit of transfer news from the Premier League is true then I reckon that Arsenal fans can stop thinking about the signing of the exciting young striker Kylian Mbappe, unless our club performs a dramatic U-turn in the way we conduct our transfer business that is.

Arsene Wenger and the Arsenal board can point to the fact that they have started to spend decent money on players in recent years, with Mesut Ozil, Alexis Sanchez, Granit Xhaka and Shkodran Mustafi all cosying more than £30 million, but we are still lagging behind the big spending clubs in the EPL and elsewhere.

So with Metro reporting that our EPL rivals Manchester United have already had a transfer bid of around £70 million turned down by Mbappe’s current club AS Monaco, you would think that the Gunners would have to double the price we paid for the record transfer of Ozil and that would only get us in the mix.

The report also claims that United have gone back with a bigger bid close to the world record fee they paid Juventus for Paul Pogba last summer. So is that the end of Arsenal hopes of signing this young striker? And will this be the shape of the summer transfer window in general for us?
