Arsenal angered as Man City interest turns key star’s head

Manchester City are claimed to have shown interest in Hector Bellerin, hamperingĀ Arsenal contract extension talks.

The GunnersĀ agreed to give the Spain international a new bumper contract in April, but talks have stalled since the Sky Blues showed an interest late into last season.

Arsenal are claimed to have contacted City chief Txiki Begiristain to emphatically deny the potential availability of their defender, who earned a place in the PFA Team of the Year for last season.

The 21 year-old is under contract until 2019, having signed a new deal only 12 months ago, and a one-year extension looked certain to be signed with an increased pay package, but an agreement is yet to be had.

Barcelona are also believed to have shown an interest in signing their former youth product, and they were also rebuffed in their attempts to re-sign him.

Bellerin is well known to the current set-up at the Etihad, with former Barca manager and chief exexutive Pep Guardiola and Begiristain having joined the club in recent years.

The Spanish boss is believed to be keen on bolstering his options at right-back, with both Bacary Sagna and Pablo Zabaleta in the latter stages of their footballing careers.

The Arsenal full-back is now claimed to have had his head turned by the potential interest, leaving our club left frustrated as they looked to try and tie the key first-team star down to a new contract.

Hopefully all this kerfuffle will blow over before the season kicks off, and we can concentrate on doing our talking on the football pitch.

Is there a fee you would accept for Bellerin? If he refused a new deal, should we accept his wish to leave?
