This morning we have a brand new Arsenal transfer rumour as ESPN have revealed from their Italian sources that the Gunners are ‘weighing up a move’ for the Croatian international Marcelo Brozović. Arsene Wenger has reportedly had him watched a few times last season and the 24 year-old could be Arsenal’s third signing after Sead Kolasinac and Alexandre Lacazette.
Brozovic is usually deployed as a box-to-box midfielder, but is very versatile and can adapt to any midfield position, and the report says that AC Milan need to offload some players to conform to the new financial regulations so Wenger has a fair chance of persuading the Italian giants to sell.
Inter Milan bought Brozovic from Dinamo Zagreb in January 2015 originally on loan but he impressed enough for Inter to make the deal permanent. He has been known to chip in with a few spectacular goals and has scored 12 times in his two full seasons at the San Siro and was a target for Chelsea and Juventus last summer but Milan refused to negotiate and gave the Croatian a much improved contract until 2021, so he will certainly not come cheaply if Arsenal follow through with a bid, with the Metro reporting today that he has a £43million release clause in his contract.
Could this approach mean that Wenger have given up on getting Thomas Lemar?
