Arsenal are a family but Coquelin is the guard dog!

The Gunners midfielder Mesut Ozil, who is on a great run of form this season with 9 assists and two goals so far, feels that Arsene Wenger’s side is like a family but listen to what the German international calls Francis Coquelin. “I know that Santi is a very technically-gifted player, just as Francis is,” he said. “We call Francis ‘the pitbull’ because he’s very aggressive and always gives 100 per cent.

“I’m pleased to be able to have those players behind me. But you need to praise the whole team.

“We fight for each other and are like a small family. You can sense that on the pitch. It shows that we are hungry for success and that’s why I want to praise the whole team.

“You see in the games that we can change players. Giroud is a different type of player to Walcott or Alexis.

“We have important and good players in attack who are hungry for goals. Those three have scored many goals already this season and you can see that we need them because they always want to score. That’s good for Arsenal.”

Every single player in the First XI is important, but no-one can deny the extra steel we have gained since Coquelin came into the side in January. I can understand why they call him the pitbull because he is certainly not a pussycat!
