Arsene Wenger has stated that he has so much strength on his Arsenal bench, and that this helps us to remain dangerous until the final whistle in every match.
The Gunners snatched a late equaliser at Old Trafford today, after falling behind in the final 30 minutes of the match, and the levelling goal came from two of his late substitutions.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain was brought on at right-back, while Olivier Giroud came on for a midfielder, which allowed Alexis to slot in behind, and the switch worked, with the Ox assisting the French striker to get the goal.
Wenger has now praised his goalscorer by declaring him as more determined than ever.
“He’s angry in a positive way,” Arsène Wenger told Arsenal Player after the game.
“I’d say he’s more determined [than angry]. I have a lot of respect, not only for his quality as a footballer, but also for the man. The best answer he can give is always to show what he did today.”
Wenger was then asked if he believed he had ever had such depth to call upon in his squad before, to which he replied:
“Never, maybe a few years ago but I think we have the quality and the spirit on the bench. The two together makes us remarkably dangerous until the last minute. Since the start of the season, look at the number of goals we’ve scored in the final five minutes. That is not a coincidence.”
