Arsenal can take 2 BIG positives from Man City’s UCL woe v Monaco

There is nothing that will take away the pain that we Arsenal fans felt after being dumped in no uncertain way out of the Champions League this season by the German champions Bayern Munich, mainly because of the 10-2 scoreline as we were always going to struggle after the unlucky draw.

Having said that, football usually gives you a chance to bounce back and put things behind you, so there is little time to lick your wounds as the next match is just around the corner. Right now Arsenal have a Premier League trip to West Brom and the ongoing fight for a top four finish to consider.

Luckily enough we still have a chance of winning a trophy, so thoughts of Arsenal fans will inevitably turn to our FA cup semi-final with Man City and after watching them get knocked out of the Champions League by Monaco I for one am feeling much better about things.

Firstly because their exit suggests that Arsenal may not be quite as awful as we think sometimes. Getting through is hard and I also believe that UEFA and the officials make it even harder for EPL clubs.

More importantly though, the way the two legs against our recent tormentors Monaco went show that City under Guardiola will always give you a chance. Their defence is almost non-existent at times and that is just the sort of team that we can thrive against.

Chelsea or Tottenham in the final would be a different proposition but for now Arsenal fans should take heart from Man City’s loss to Monaco and maybe also go a bit easier on Arsene Wenger and the players for being knocked out by a bigger and better team with a lot of help from the referee.
