Arsenal close in on £30m Dortmund star?

Arsenal fans do a lot of moaning despite the team only losing one solitary League game this season, and that was against leaders Chelsea, but we should all thank our lucky stars that we don´t support Borussia Dortmund. Despite easily topping Arsenal´s Champions League Group, the German giants are currently BOTTOM of the Bundesliga.

Jurgen Klopp is used to losing his stars to his opponents and it would be little surprise if he lost some more as they bail out of a sinking ship. Arsenal were reportedly chasing the brilliant central defender Mats Hummels in the summer, and according to a report in today´s Mirror the Gunners are aiming to try and entice him again in January.

The 25 year-old German international would certainly go some way to shoring up our leaky defence, and with our German contingent on hand to help him settle in quickly in London he could be an excellent addition to the Arsenal squad.

The report also says that Man United are also interested in bringing Hummels to the Premier League, but they maintain that £30million-rated star would prefer to join his compatriots at the Emirates, and would be happy to do so this winter.

Arsenal have been linked with many cheaper centre-back alternatives in the last couple of months, but with Wenger always sprouting his mantra that “new arrivals must improve the squad” then surely Hummels would be a certain target. Should Arsenal go all out to sign him, whatever the cost?
