Arsenal coast to 3-1 win over Championship side Brentford

Arsenal have coasted to a 3-1 win over Brentford today, booking their place in the fourth round of the League Cup.

The Bees turned up with a decent side for the clash, but our squad players were more than enough to control the match.

Danny Welbeck opened the scoring fairly early into the match, with a clean headed goal into the far corner, and doubled that lead through a neat team goal in the last 10 minutes of the second half.

Brentford were holding their own for much of the game but were struggling to make many clear cut chances, and our dominance was beginning to show more and more.

Judge managed to pull one back for Brentford just before the hour-mark, but his side failed to build any momentum from that, and never looked like they would be able to pull level. Alexandre Lacazette was thrown into the match and closed off the game 3-1 in injury time,

In all fairness, a 2-1 win wouldn’t have shown just how much control of the match we did have, and the 3-1 final scoreline is definitely more fair. We didn’t need to throw in any big players on with any big jobs and should be nice and rested for the weekend ahead.

Does Welbeck’s showing mean he could push his way into Emery’s plans? Does he deserve to play in a front three with Laca and Aubz?
