Arsenal Exits – The Ox and Wilshere are staying, Giroud and Sanchez to leave?

Now that the pre-season is under way, the Arsenal transfer rumours are starting to be clarified by Arsene Wenger, and to start with we can be sure that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will still be playing for us next season, although Wenger didn’t say that he was going to sign a new contract. Le Prof said when asked about Chamberlain: “Yeah. 100 per cent. I expect him to stay. There has been no speculation. No matter what happens he will stay.”

Jack Wilshere is also in the last year of his contract and as he’s injured (really?) it may have been difficult to sell him anyway, but the Boss reckons he will be competing for a place in the team again when he recovers. “I think Jack will be with Arsenal next season, yes,” said Wenger. “I will give you a very focused answer on that, that he has to work hard to come back and fight for a place in the team.

“But once he is ready, when he comes back, he will not be far from practising with the team.”

Oli Giroud scored again this morning after starting alongside Lacazette, but he is far from certain to stay as a supersub yet again. Giroud said, “It (leaving) is an option to be honest with you.

“I’m here in pre-season, I wanted to travel. Some people asked me if I am going to travel or not. I am an Arsenal player and for the moment I am here. I just want to prepare well for the season and we will see later.

“But it is true that I really enjoyed my five years with Arsenal. I try to be professional. No matter what happens, I did my job on the pitch.

“I had an amazing welcome from the fans and from the club and it has been five amazing years for me.

“I won’t forget it, no matter what happens. We will see about my future.”

That sounds like a farewell speech to me, so I think we can be seeing him move abroad very soon, probably to Marseille…

And as for the million-dollar question. Will Alexis be staying? Or as has been reported in Chile, he has already signed a contract extension? Wenger denies this: “No [he has not signed a new deal]. A lot that comes out about Sanchez does not look completely right. No, that’s not the case.”

Well I am of the opinion that if Sanchez was intending to stay, he would have signed a new contract by now, so I reckon both Giroud and Alexis are out the door.

What do you think?
