Manchester United travelled to Anfield to take on Liverpool last night, and Arsenal fans got their desired result from the encounter.
Gunners fans were asked to vote on which result was best to come from Red Monday for our side, and a whopping 78% agreed that a draw would be best for Arsenal.
There will be many happy North-Londoners today, although any fans who actually made the effort to watch the encounter will not be overly pleased from a neutral point-of-view. The game was not the most exciting match I have seen this season, and could really have found my time better spent sleeping.
Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho seemingly parked the bus in the final 20 minutes of the match, and seemed happy to nick a point at Anfield thanks to some supreme saves from David De Gea in the goal-mouth.
It’s been some time since a United fan would have been pleased with one point from an encounter with their long-time rivals, but in this case, they have to be. The Merseysiders however will be frustrated at having failed to score after dominating much of the game.
Liverpool missed their chance to join Manchester City and us at the top of the table last night, while their opponents also failed to capitalise on a number of their rivals having dropped points.
United are now at risk of falling eight points behind us and City next week, with a trip to Stamford Bridge to take on Chelsea next in their schedule, and a loss will certainly lead to a number of people ruling out their title hopes after only nine Premier League matches.
Must Liverpool now be taken seriously? Should we now want United to beat Chelsea to help our title aspirations?
