Some bookmakers have slashed the odds to 9-1 that Sanchez will return to Arsenal in the next transfer window, the lowest odds of any side in England. Put it this way, I won’t be parting with my 10 pounds!
It’s been less then 12 months since Sanchez left for Man United. Of all the nonsense rumours to come out of Old Trafford, they are suggesting he now wants to return to Arsenal. I blame Old Trafford for the source as why wouldn’t they regret making the highest paid player in the country someone who now sits on their bench. Leave us out of your mess though….
The story goes that the Chilean is mentally struggling to such a degree he wants to come back to where his football was appreciated. His agent would realise for that to even be a discussion in our board room, his client would have to drop his wage demands by 200,000. If he was willing to throw down his gloves and argue with team-mates to get such a salary, imagine his behaviour if he lost it.
Arsene Wenger built his team around the winger’s strengths; he responded by acting like he was better then everyone else and went through the motions in his last season at the Emirates. You could argue it’s been over a year since we saw him at his best, with no sign of him finding his form.
Even if he accepted an offer on par with Ozil, Stan Kroenke might not want to pay such a sum for a man with no consistency , certainly not a transfer fee. While I criticised our owner for letting contracts run down, he’s been proven right about not paying over the odds. As soon as Alexis nearly doubled his wage, his passion for delivering on the pitch has vanished.
When his family check his bank balance, it would be naive to think they regret leaving London. Peehaps if he could turn back time he would have chosen a different location in Manchester. Going to the blue half would of seen him better himself financially and football wise. Even Man City had a cut off point in terms of what cheque they were willing to write. Pep Guardiola didn’t need his signature to win the League and would’ve questioned what was motivating the move. He too will feel he’s had a lucky escape.
The longer Sanchez struggles as a Red Devil , the less likely anyone in Europe will match his current salary, forcing him to remain in an enviromnent where he is unhappy. The only solution would be heading to the US or China who would provide the finances to use a marquee name to help the sport grow. It would be a waste if before the age of 30, someone who could have been the Premiership’s best talent threw it away for a quick pay day.
