Arsenal go back to previous target as alternative to Wilfred Zaha

Arsenal have been linked with a whole host of wingers in the last few weeks but had settled on Crystal Palace star Wilfred Zaha, and only last week tabled a £40 Million bid.

However, it now appears that they have accepted that a deal for the 26-year-old is unlikely to happen and have now turned their attention back towards Bournemouth’s wing wizard Ryan Fraser, according to the latest reports.

Palace rejected Arsenal’s opening £40 Million bid and made it clear that it will cost a hell of a lot more for them to sanction the sale of the Ivory Coast international. The Eagles value Zaha between £80 and £100 Million, a figure just too much for the Gunners to meet.

Even with the touted player plus cash rumours, it would still not be enough and that is why Arsenal have reportedly decided they will get more luck trying to sign the Bournemouth forward.

Fraser is prolific with assists, only Eden Hazard beat the 17 goals that the Scotsman created last season and combined with his work rate has caught the attention of Unai Emery.

The Scottish international has just 12 months remaining on his contract and unless he pens an extension the Cherries have little option but to cash in this summer and that has opened the door for Arsenal to land the 26-year-old for a fee in the region of £20 Million.

Fraser may not have been Emery’s first choice but he is not a bad alternative to Zaha and from a financial perspective is arguably the better choice.
