Arsenal go into next season full of hope after bossing Chelsea

Arsenal are so desperately in need of some good news after our usual mid-season collapse derailed our title aspirations. Now with our new formation the Gunners won 9 out of their last 10 matches including beating high-flyers Man City and Chelsea to lift the cup, and are now playing full of confidence.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain believes this run will give Arsenal a boost ahead of next season’s title chase but admits that the team need to make sure they perform like that for the whole of the next campaign. “When I look around that dressing room and training with the boys week-in, week-out… when we put in amazing performances then I know we are capable of that,” the Ox said.

“Throughout the whole season it’s a big ask but it’s one that we need to be up for and I think the teams in the league have been as strong as I have seen them right down the division, and that obviously makes it harder.

“So it is frustrating. We think we can do it for the whole season but we need to improve and we know that. Performances like Saturday, after the semi-final, in a big game against Chelsea shows what we can do.

“It has given a bit of momentum for the club and for the fans to go into next season full of hope and I hope we can have a better year next year.”

Hmm well we finished on a high last season with a last-day sneak past Tottenham to get second place, but we were nowhere near ready to roll on the first day of this season. Luckily there is no World Cup or Euro competition, and with our participation in the Europa League we should be playing earlier than all the other Top Six teams, who are all going to the Champions League.

All our players should be fit and raring to go from the start of the campaign, and with all our rivals facing tougher opponents in Europe than we will face, perhaps next year really could be our year?
