Arsenal handed BIG incentive for Southampton by Liverpool

The second round of Premier League Boxing Day games have now finished and they have thrown up some more good news for Arsenal fans, after Manchester United possibly dropped out of the Premier League title race with a defeat away to Stoke City in the early kick-off.

It was not all good news for the Gunners, with our big rivals Man City bouncing back from the loss to Arsenal with a thumping 4-1 win over Sunderland. But there was some bad news for City in that match as well, because their captain Vincent Kompany limped off just 10 minutes after coming on as a sub, suggesting that he is set for more time out with injury.

The good news for Arsenal came at Anfield, where Jurgen Klopp saw his Liverpool side take all three points off the current league leaders Leicester City. That was just a second defeat of the season for the Foxes and it leaves them just two points ahead of Arsenal in the EPL table.

So if Arsene Wenger was at all concerned about his players keeping their focus at St. Mary’s tonight, the chance for us to overtake Leicester and finish the weekend on top of the Premier League was just what the doctor ordered. Looking up to Leicester and the chance to go top should also stop the Arsenal team from looking back and worrying about Man City.

But will Arsenal reach the coveted top spot in a few hours?
