Arsenal have evolved and everyone trusts Unai Emery claims Hector Bellerin

Hector Bellerin praises Unai Emery and claims the Gunners have evolved since the Spaniard was made their manager.

Many football fans and observers would disagree with Bellerin, but the Gunners right-back insists that the team has evolved since Unai Emery was named as their manager last season.

Emery took over from Arsene Wenger last season after the French man had spent the last 22 years at the helm.

His team missed out on qualifying for the Champions League last season and lost the Europa League final to Chelsea.

They have also struggled for form this season and remain outside the top four after losing 1-0 to Sheffield United. They also struggled to beat Vitoria Gumaires in the Europa League on Thursday.

These performances have seen the likes of Jamie Carragher question the progress made under the Spaniard. But Bellerin believes the team has changed for the better.

‘I think this team has evolved a lot since the beginning of last season,’ said Bellerin. ‘When the board sign a manager like Unai, they know it’s all going to be part of a process.

‘He has ideas and he’s done so well at Sevilla and Valencia and Paris – so everyone trusts in the manager.

‘Sometimes things don’t go your way but then it’s about turning it around. I think if you take out from last season those three games which we lost – it would have been a very positive season and turned out another way.

‘It is part of a process and I think we are improving as players and the manager is getting to know us every single day and for us, it is to just to keep going forward with the head up.’

Bellerin is yet to start a Premier League game for the Gunners this season after suffering a long term injury.

The fans will be hoping that he returns to action quickly and helps them finish in the top four.
