Arsenal have finally got our spine back!

THE CURRENT ARSENAL FORMATION SHOULD BE THE BASIS FOR NEXT SEASON’S TITLE CHALLENGE by Nairobigooner

Its definitely a good time to be a Gooner, considering the fact that at this time last season we had lost at Anfield, Old Trafford, the Etihad, and most notably Goodison Park. Everton were being tipped to finish in the Top Four at the expense of the Gunners, and it was a bitter experience considering our form at the start of the season.

However, we finished the season on a high – finishing in the Top Four and winning the FA cup. Since then, we have gone on and acquired one of the most lethal players North London has seen for some time in Alexis, and added a couple more talented additions to a previously thin squad.

Finally our squad looks capable of challenging the big boys again for the EPL. Second in the EPL table and having won convincingly at the Etihad and knocked Manure out of the FA at Old Trafford, this team looks to have found a spine, that willingness to battle that separates the men from boys. Having found a new anchorman in Francis Coquelin and a formation that makes us a difficult team to break down, it makes sense to start next season with the same approach to the game. Bearing in mind the number of points that Arsenal pick up against smaller teams, if we pick at least 4 points from each of the teams in the top 6 – then definitely we win the League.

Against lower opposition we can play our fluid passing game but switch tactics against the big teams – like we did against Man City. We have the fastest wingers in England and our fullbacks can also put in a decent flight so that is a good platform for that approach. Retaining Coquelin in the holding role will be key to our early season form, and if Arsene brings in a striker, another strong midfielder and maybe a CB and a GK then we have a good chance of being the champions of England come May next year. With Ozil in this brilliant form, Giroud scoring for fun, Alexis scaring defenders and Coquelin bullying playmakers, then Arsenal will be a force to reckon with next season.

Meanwhile, lets go to Wembley in May and show Aston Villa that the 3:0 and 5:0 scorelines were not just numbers. COYG!!
