Arsenal in pole position to seal brilliant La Liga striker transfer

Arsenal fans may be looking forward to the January transfer window, more in hope than expectation, and we can only hazard a guess at whether Arsene Wenger will actually sign, or even attempt to sign, any players this season. Even though he has been roundly criticized for failing to do so in the summer, the Frenchman is not the sort to be affected by this.

I think there is a good chance that we Arsenal fans will have at least one new player to shout about though, and if our England international star Danny Welbeck is not back in action by then, I think that a striker may well be top of Wenger´s wish list.

Reports in Spain are suggesting that Arsenal are one of the many clubs interested in the Spanish international forward Nolito, who has been in superb form for Celta Vigo in La Liga this season, but the chances of us getting him looked to have taken a blow when Barcelona entered the fray.

Nolito spent three seasons with the Catalan club but was mostly a B team player and only made five appearances for the first team and maybe this is why, according to Spanish website Fichajes.net, he is not that keen on going back. Apparently, though, he is keen on a move to the Premier League and that seems to put Arsenal in pole position to complete his transfer.

The only problem is that the versatile forward has suggested that he wants to finish this season with his current club, but perhaps a sizable offer from the Gunners could change all that. With Morata out of the Spain game against Ukraine tonight, and with them already confirmed as group winners, we should get a good chance to see Nolito in action and get a good idea if he would be the right player for Arsenal. What do you think?
