Arsenal legend claims superstar ‘edging’ towards ‘frightening’ move

Former Arsenal striker Ian Wright believes that Mesut Ozil is pushing for a move to Manchester United, and the thought ‘frightens’ him. The German international is inside the final year of his Gunners contract at present, and is strongly linked with the exit door.

Ozil is currently strongly linked with a move to either Barcelona or Manchester United, with the latter representing a return to playing under his former Real Madrid counterpart Jose Mourinho, and former Arsenal star Ian Wright claims he believes the latter looks a likely move at present.

“Do you know what? That would break my heart,” Wright stated. “You know why? Because they’ve got players who perform, and play well. I could see, for instance, I’m hearing (Juan) Mata is kind of edging for a deal.

“If that doesn’t happen Mesut Ozil on a free to Man United is a shoo-in. I could see him at United being unbelievable.”

The former England international moves on to add that the prospect of him at United scares him, describing the German as a player who thrives alongside form players.

He continued: “He’s the kind of player, we’ve seen it sometimes with Arsenal. But I’ve said to people before, he can’t drag a team up by their laces and make them all play well.

“But if they’re playing well and you stick him in, unbelievable. He is the one that you want to say ‘you know what, I just need someone to finish this off’. I would put Ozil in and that frightens me to know that he could end up at Man United.

“It wouldn’t make sense to him or his agents or his team for him to sign now, simply because he’s gone this far.”

Would Ozil thrive at Manchester United? Would Jose’s negative tactics not hinder his creativity? Does he appear to be favouring a United move to you?
