Arsenal legend rips into the players and Unai Emery following awful display

Tony Adams slams Arsenal’s performance against Southampton and calls for Unai Emery’s sacking.

Arsenal’s 2-2 draw was just too bad for Tony Adams and the former Gunners’ legend has called for a change of management at the Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners were hoping that their team would finally win a game when they hosted struggling Southampton at the Emirates today, but it wasn’t to be and the fans have been left frustrated again. No, they have been left furious.

One of the most frustrating fans has to be Adams himself, a fighter to the end. He didn’t hold back as he launched a stinging rebuke of the team’s performance and insisted that the team was regressing under Unai Emery.

Arsenal’s draw means they are now ninth in the standings and a top-four finish is even harder to achieve now.
Several former Arsenal players have been calling for the sacking of Unai Emery before this game, and Adams joined that group today after watching their horror show against The Saints.

He told BT Sport via the Daily Mail: ‘I’m just smashed to bits with the performance. At one point Ozil was sweeper, getting the ball off his keeper and trying to run it through everybody.

‘The boos are deserved – it was a terrible, terrible performance, very disjointed, no defending in sight.

‘That’s a really poor performance and I don’t want any coach losing his job, but the club’s not going forward, it’s not progressing.

‘I can put a team together that’s more organised than that!’

The former defender also picked out David Luiz for scrutiny for his role in the lead up to Southampton’s opener.

He said: ‘They’re all sleeping, look at Luiz here. What is Luiz doing? He’s just standing there.’

Difficult to argue with what Adams has said.
