Arsenal midfielder refusing to lower demands despite lack of action

Mathieu Flamini is looking for a new club this summer, and is demanding that his current wage is met before agreeing to move.

The Frenchman has not featured in the Premier League since January, and with Arsenal currently having a full squad fit for action, his campaign looks to be over.

The Gunners cannot even risk fielding a weaker squad at this stage in the season, as the fight for a place in the top-four is still tight. A win this weekend could seal our place in the Champions League for next year, but that could also give us a chance of beatking Tottenham to second in the table, which would be huge to the fans.

Tomas Rosicky and Mikel Arteta find themselves in the same boat also, with their deals also set to expire this summer, and with game-time extremely limited. The pair could be set to retire at the end of the campaign, having suffered a number of fitness and injury issues in recent years, although the latter is tipped to move into a coaching role.

Flamini is likely to play on however, and is believed to be in talks over a possible move to Greece with Panathinaikos, where the Frenchman could team up with former Premier League star Michael Essien in midfield.

Talks have so far come to a head, with the Arsenal star refusing to lower his wage demands, and is so far adamant that he will not take lower than his current £60,000 per week earnings.

Does Flamini deserve a final send-off for his time with the club? Or is he at the back of the queue with both Arteta and Rosicky having played bigger roles in recent years?
