The Arsenal negotiating team are going to be very busy this summer, with contract talks lined up for such big stars as Alexis Sanchez, Mesut Ozil, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and a few others. One of those that has been off the radar is the midfielder Jon Toral, who has been up in Scotland on loan to Rangers this season.
He is on his way back to Arsenal this summer, and is keen to find out if the Gunners will be giving him another contract this year. He told Rangers’ official website: “I have another season left at Arsenal so I will go back and it will depend on where they see me, in terms of whether they see me ready for the first team or if they see me doing better with another loan.
“I have to see if they want to give me another contract, so I will wait and talk to them and then we will go from there.”
Toral arrived at the Emirates in 2011 from Barcelona along with Hector Bellerin, but while his friend made it into the Arsenal first team, Toral has spent the last four years out on loan. He had two successful seasons at Brentford and Birmingham, but then spent a season back in Spain with Granada but was only used 6 times. At Rangers he was a little better with 12 appearances for the Gers.
It will be interesting to see whether he is retained or allowed to try and find a permanent place with another side this summer….
