Jack Wilshere’s back! But not for West Brom clash

Jack Wilshere was expected to be available to make his first Premier League appearance of the season for Arsenal on Thursday, but he will have to wait. The Enland midfielder has been ruled out of action since pre-season, and hasn’t featured in the Premier League since May of last year.

Wilshere is nearing a return to the first-team however, and is expected to make the squad for the trip to Sunderland on Sunday, having featured three times for the Under-21 side in recent weeks.

Arsene Wenger confirmed that he has no new injury concerns since the last match against Crystal Palace on Sunday, and that Wilshere will be available after the midweek match with West Bromwich Albion.

‘Everyone is available from our last game against Palace,’ Wenger said in his press conference. ‘Wilshere has absorbed well his first obstacle.

‘In every game he was sharper, he has a good fitness basis. He is available for selection from next game (Sunderland) onwards’.

The 24 year-old did give the backroom team a scare this week, as he went down during the first-half of Monday night’s U21 match against West Brom‘s equivalent side, and stayed down for some time.

He did manage to get the all-clear to complete the game however, and even went on to score during the second-half of the match. His inclusion in the Under-21’s side in recent weeks has not helped them to secure the title for the reserve side, with them only needing three points from their last two outings to seal the top spot.

We will have to hope that his return to the first-team will be more positive, with a tight-finish for the top four places in the Premier League being anticipated. Should Man United win tonight they will move to within a point of us in fourth.

Will Wilshere give us the necessary boost for our last few games?
