Arsenal must hope Brendan Rodgers’ honeymoon period is over

On Sunday Arsenal face another dangerous opponent away from home in Leicester City, and a quick look at their statistics highlights even more how difficult it is going to be to come away with all three points.

Brendan Rodgers has been in charge for seven Premier League games and while they have not faced a top six team under the former Celtic manager, they have struck a rich vein of form with four wins and a draw in that period.

In fact, over the last six games, the Foxes are third best in the Premier League with only Liverpool and Man City doing better.

Their home form has been mixed against the top six, they have lost to Man Utd, Liverpool and Tottenham, however, they are one of the few teams this season to have beaten Manchester City. Their away form against the top six is not so bad either with a win against Chelsea and a draw at Liverpool.

So, overall they can boast a win over Man City and Chelsea and a draw at Anfield, this is not a team overawed playing the big boys.

In conclusion, they are in better recent form than us, in fact in better recent form than anyone other than City and Liverpool, they have a decent record against the top six considering their level and have received a boost under their new manager.

That said, they have not won in their last two games, losing to Newcastle at home and drawing away at West Ham and so maybe the honeymoon period is over with.

It will undoubtedly be a tough game for us and our confidence has taken a hit, but Leicester are definitely beatable and as long as we have the right mental attitude and play to our level we really should win.
