Arsenal ordered to pay €30M or forget Barcelona star’s signature

Arsenal have been told that Arda Turan will cost no less than €30 Million to sign him from Barcelona this summer.

The Turkish international has not enjoyed his best football since joining the Spanish giants from league rivals Atletico Madrid 12 months ago.

Turan was forced to sit out the opening six months of his playing career with Barca, due to a ban forcing the club from registering any new players for a 12 month period, and was only able to be registered to play from January 2016. The 29 year-old went onto start nine of the club’s remaining 21 league outings, but was only given three substitute appearances in the Champions League.

Turan was also booed whilst trying to help Turkey to escape from the group stages of the European Championships by his own fans, highlighting his struggles to perform to his expected level for his country.

Arsenal are now claimed to be interested in signing the Barca playmaker, with three midfielders having left the club at the end of their respective deals already this summer, and only one replacement having joined thus far.

Arsenal have now been told they must pay €30 Million if they want to land their target, but do they really need him?

Alex Iwobi has emerged from the youth ranks to take the pressure off an addition in the midfield roles however, and it had been thought that a striker and a centre-back would be prioritised. Chris Willock and Jeff Reine-Adelaide are also tipped to possibly follow Iwobi into the first-team set-up, and the midfielders could again reduce the need for arrivals in the centre of the pitch.

A striker has to be our priority this summer, but if we could bring in someone of the ilk of Riyad Mahrez, who scored a ton of goals from the wing for Leicester last term, then I would happily add him as one of out two remaining additions.

Should we stump up £30 Million to bring Turan to the Emirates? Do we simply have more than enough for the role?
