Arsenal rumours – Adli deal off but Torreira agreed and Leno “around the corner”

Well this looks set to be one of Arsenal’s most amazing transfer window for many a season, but we are sure to have a few disappointments as well, and today we are hearing that Yacine Adli has changed his mind about joining Arsenal and has decided to remain in Paris with PSG. Robert Pires admitted yesterday that it is hard for a teenager to up sticks and move to London away from your family and friends. ‘I know Unai Emery likes this player.” Pires said.

“I don’t know what’s happened the last two days, but if he joins Arsenal, I think he will be a good player for the new squad. ‘He’s young and it’s very difficult to leave your family, your country and find new players, new football and a new philosophy.

‘It’s very difficult, very tough, that adaption. But I know Arsenal is like a family, so if he wants, he can make a success of his career at Arsenal.

‘Everything is new and you need to adapt. New football, new teams. So for him, if he joins, at the beginning it’s very important to learn and watch what happens on the field because you need to learn every day.’

So it seems that he has decided not to take that step despite his closeness to Unai Emery. Oh well, back to the drawing board….

Secondly it would appear that we are closer than ever to signing Lucas Torreira as Arsenal have triggered his release clause and the Uruguayan is set to be our new DM next season. The Mirror reports that Arsenal have agreed a £26million deal for the Uruguayan international. His stats for last season were an average of 2.8 tackles a game and a key pass in every outing. Pass percentage success is 87.2 per cent, and he played a pass every 90 seconds of a game. Get in there!

And what about Leno? Everyone keeps saying that we need a new keeper but is he the one? According to the Norwegian Bundesliga expert Jan Aage Fjortoft, Leno was out-of-sorts last season and hasn’t really progressed. Fjortoft tweeted: “Bernd Leno to Arsenal seems to be just around the corner.

“Was a great talented keeper. It’s fair to say he hasn’t “taken the next step”.

“But a move to England can be good for him.”

Can he really improve at Arsenal? I know he will only cost 20m GBP, but is it worth the risk?
