Should Arsenal save ‘1st choice’ Welbeck for Everton?

I really hoped that the two goals he scored as Arsenal beat Hull City in the FA cup last week would spur the French international forward into the sort of form he was showing in the first half of the season, but Olivier Giroud was so ineffectual against Watford yesterday that he may as well have been at home watching it on TV.

You could argue that the chances Arsenal had did not seem to fall to the big man but when you saw what a difference Danny Welbeck made after replacing him, you can see that there is something very wrong with Giroud at the moment. I don’t think too many Arsenal fans would argue that Welbeck is the first choice centre forward for Arsenal right now, because Theo Walcott has failed to shine there as well this season.

But according to Arsene Wenger the former Man United star is not fully fit yet and cannot start every game. In fact the boss said after losing to Watford that he could not have started Welbeck on medical grounds. He looked sharp enough when he came on though and he did start the north London derby last weekend.

The question now is, assuming that Welbeck will be available to start the next game, should he? If we start with him against Barcelona it is unlikely he would then be able to start against Everton in the Premier League on Saturday. I would say in that case that Wenger must save him for the Toffees. What do you guys think?
