Arsenal set for meeting to seal Falcao deal tomorrow?

You have probably heard the Arsenal transfer rumours suggesting that the Monaco and Colombia international striker Radamel Falcao could be available on a season long loan deal to replace our injured centre forward Olivier Giroud. But the fact that the rumours say that it will cost the Gunners around £20 million, along with the statement from Wenger about us having good options up front already, makes it unlikely.

Or maybe not, because the latest Metro report on the story, which comes from an Italian journalist with connections, claims that Falcao’s agent is set for a meeting with Arsenal and Monaco in Monte Carlo tomorrow.

And there are a few reasons for us to hope that a deal can be done. The 28-year old is keen to leave his French club, but his huge transfer fee and his annual wages of around €18 million means there is not exactly a long line of clubs knocking on the door. But for Arsenal, who will be without Giroud for the whole group stage of the Champions League, the £20m could be a price worth paying if it got us into the latter stages and helped us fight for the Premier League at the same time, which it surely would.

Also, according to his Wikipedia page, one of the reasons Falcao joined Monaco in the first place was the chance to follow in the footsteps of his footballing hero, one Thierry Henry. So surely Arsenal would interest the Colombian star, but will Wenger and the board really sanction the transfer at that price?
