Arsenal should consider Krystian Bielik for the first team next season

Krystian Bielik, the 19 year old Arsenal footballer currently on loan at Birmingham football club, could make an impact in the Arsenal team next season, if given the opportunity. The Polish international midfielder, who can also play as a centre back, has so far impressed the coach of Birmingham football club, Gianfranco Zola, who has praised him severally in the past, to the high heavens!

Looking at the defensive issues we have suffered this season, it won’t be out of place to bring our player back and allow him fight for a place next season alongside other defenders in the team, since he is currently playing as a defender at Birmingham.

It is no hidden secret that this season has seen Arsenal concede more stupid goals than ever before. Our defensive pair of Koscienly and Mustafi seemed to be doing well initially until things started falling apart and the goals started undoing their partnership. Our games against Bayern Munich, Chelsea, West Brom and Liverpool, are just examples of games where a good defensive unit would have saved us from conceding cheap goals! In the games against Bayern Munich when Koscielny never played a full 90 minutes, Bielik would have slotted in well into the defence as a good substitute.

Zola said about Bielik: “He looks like he has been playing a while,”
“He reminds me when [Hector] Bellerin came with me to Watford, he stayed with me one week and then I said ‘Go’.

“You can see straight away when a player has got something special.”
“He is calm with the ball. He came here on the back of a problem maybe defending with physicality,”

“But even against Newcastle and last week he really kept his composure in difficult circumstances, I think he is going to be a really top player.”

We surely have other young defenders like Chambers and Holdings who can do a good job if called upon but there is no harm in allowing Bielik a chance to fight for a shirt. Apart from playing as a defender, Bielik can also play as a central midfielder, which makes him one utility player we can’t afford not to have in our squad for next season.

We need to start building for next season as this one is as good as ended! We can’t keep on playing every season with only a good first X1, we need good backups too; that is what makes a big club last the course of the campaign especially when injuries start setting in! Is Bielik not a good way to start building for next season?
