Arsenal show Watford their cojones!

Troy Deeney must be really regretting telling the Arsenal players that they lacked cojones after the Hornets beat Arsenal earlier in the season, when Deeney himself scored a penalty against Petr Cech.

But this time around the Gunners destroyed Watford 3-0 with Deeney yet again getting a penalty, except Cech showed Deeney his cojones and saved it, keeping his 200th EPL clean sheet in the process. Wenger was asked if Deeney’s remarks had had an effect on this game and the Boss replied: “You cannot be a football player or any sportsman without pride,”

“These things come always a little bit in but for how much I don’t know.

“Of course it plays a part.”

Rob Holding was a bit more forthcoming when he was asked about Deeney’s comments, and agreed of course it affected the Arsenal players ahead of today’s match. “It was definitely in the back of our minds,” Holding said.

“We don’t like coming off the pitch and someone saying that about us. We want to show our fight. I think today with a clean sheet – they didn’t have a sniff apart from with the penalty – we just wanted to prove them wrong and prove to our fans we’re still fighting and we believe.”

“It’s been a tough spell,” Holding continued. “We had the good result in Milan and we wanted to build on that and get another clean sheet. I’m buzzing for Petr to get over that milestone. It’s been hanging over his head for a while and it was a great penalty save from him. It was everything we wanted, really.”

It was everything Arsenal fans wanted as well. A good win, a slap in the face for Deeney, a penalty save from Cech, and to cap it all we scored our 1000th Premier League goal!
