Arsenal star shows some true class at Copa America

It must have been a massive blow to the Arsenal and Colombia keeper David Ospina this week when after a fantastic Copa America tournament so far, they started the semi-final against Chile so poorly that they allowed Alexis Sanchez and his team mates to grab an early two goal lead from which they could never recover.

Ospina was not at fault for the goals and our second choice stopper had a fantastic tournament, as did the whole of the Colombian side and I fancied them to go all the way and perhaps even surprise the favourites Argentina and add to their only tournament victory which came in 2001.

It was not to be though, so Ospina had to see his Arsenal team mate Alexis celebrating at the end of the 90 minutes but despite the disappointment the keeper still managed to show some real class, as reported by Metro, in congratulating Chile and wishing the striker the best of luck for the final against the great Lionel Messi and all. Ospina alluded to the fact that Sanchez had not gone into the tournament in great form and struggled to have his usual influence in the first couple of games but has just got better as it has gone on.

He said, ‘He’s not just a great player, he’s an excellent person.

‘He’s showing what he is made of at the Copa America with his movement, competitiveness and use of the ball. I’m happy for him.’

You just have to love Ospina don’t you?
