Arsenal stars set for key role as France look to advance

France host Albania today as they look to continue their 100% record for the competition, which would see them through to the next round.

Les Bleus beat Romania in the opening match of the tournament last Friday evening, and will be keen to seal their place in the knock-out rounds of the competition with a win tonight.

Olivier Giroud scored the opening goal of the previous game, scoring his eighth France goal in his last eight appearances, whilst also continuing his overall form, having now scored eight goals in his last five matches for club and country.

His goal was not enough to seal victory however, as the away side managed to get back on terms thanks to a penalty, and Dimitri Payet had to pull out an amazing strike with his left boot, to cap off his first ever appearance in an international tournament.

Two of the key players have been rested for tonight’s match, with Antoine Griezmann and Paul Pogba left out of the starting line-up, leaving our players Giroud and Laurent Koscielnt with much more responsibility for tonight’s match.

Anthony Martial and Kingsley Coman come into the side, and the former’s inclusion will come as a boost to Giroud, with his pace likely to open up more space for the Arsenal striker.

A win tonight would ensure France a place in top two, and seal their position in the knock-out rounds of the competition, following Switzerland and Romania’s draw today.

The side’s played out a 1-1 draw, meaning a win today would see them move to five points clear of third position, with one match remaining against Switzerland, who would be at risk of elimination should the French win the final group match also.

Can Giroud score once again tonight to seal his ninth goal in nine for his country?
