The PFA Premier League Team of the Year has been announced, and not a single Arsenal star has made the line-up.
The Gunners didn’t have many players expected to make the team after a dreadful campaign thus far, but Alexis Sanchez is nominated for the PFA Premier League Player of the Year award, and I would have thought he would have made the line-up.
The Chilean is our club’s current top goalscorer, and has been impressing in various different roles for our side, and I would have expected him to be selected ahead of Liverpool’s Sadio Mane in the 4-4-2 line-up.

Hector Bellerin was our only inclusion in last season’s PFA Team, but even he hasn’t enjoyed his best term, and wasn’t expected to make the final team. Mesut Ozil was overlooked harshly last season despite topping the assists charts, but has had his struggles this term.
It seems odd that the Team of the Year is selected prior to the end of the season, and with just over three quarters of the matches being played, although I’m not sure much would change between now and then.
Alexis could begin to thrive with the new freedom he should receive due to our switch to a 3-4-2-1 formation, much like Eden Hazard has, and he could well be crucial in our push to climb back into the top four.
His exclusion in the selection does seem to rule out any hopes of landing an unlikely PFA Player of the Year award though, not that anyone looks likely to beat the Chelsea pair Kante and Hazard to it anyway.
